I’m currently rewriting Affexon’s base code to follow a linear pathway. The original code was designed for a sandbox-style VN, which I learned how to create through YouTube tutorials. When I first started working on Affexon, my vision was to make it a sandbox game. However, partway through development, I realized that most players disliked sandbox games based on a poll conducted within the community. Even though I decided to transition away from the sandbox concept, I didn’t take the time to rewrite the code and assumed the existing structure would work fine for a non-sandbox game. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The current code has been causing several issues, including memory leaks, crashes, performance hiccups, and RAM usage spiking to 10–12GB or more. To address these problems, I’ve decided to rebuild the code properly. This process will take some time since I need to code and test repeatedly to ensure everything works smoothly.
