Poll #538 - What should the theme be for the first level of the Neverending Dungeon?
HELP SET THE FOUNDATION OF THE NEVERENDING DUNGEON
Before the dungeon can grow, it needs a foundation.
This poll will determine the theme of the first level of the Neverending Dungeon—the depth that everything else is built on. This level will define the dungeon’s opening tone, its early threats, and the kind of stories that naturally emerge as the dungeon expands downward.
All paid patrons get a vote in this poll.
Once the theme is selected, it will be followed by a One-Word Prompt request, where patrons can contribute evocative words, moods, and ideas that will help shape the details of this first level. From there, I’ll design and write the rooms that make it real.
You won’t be designing rooms—but your input will help decide what kind of dungeon this becomes.
CHOOSE THE THEME FOR LEVEL ONE
🪦 Unquiet Dead
Skeletons, crawling corpses, funeral guardians gone feral, and spirits bound to rooms that no longer serve their original purpose. Doors hang open. Tomb seals are broken. Nothing rests properly anymore.
🐀 Infestation
Vermin, scavengers, filth, collapsing furnishings, and creatures that have turned corridors into nests. The dungeon hasn’t been maintained—and the things that thrive in neglect have claimed it.
⚔️ Squatters & Raiders
Bandits, deserters, cult initiates, or opportunists using the dungeon as shelter. Barricades block halls. Traps are improvised. Someone is home—and they don’t want visitors.
🩸 Ritual Aftermath
Evidence of repeated, unfinished, or failed rituals. Bloodstains never cleaned. Symbols carved too deeply. Something was summoned, attempted, or interrupted—and the consequences still linger.
🔒 Containment Failure
Cells cracked open, locks broken, warning sigils scratched out, and whatever was kept here now roaming freely. This level is unstable—not because it was built poorly, but because it has already failed once.
After the poll closes, watch for the One-Word Prompt request, where you’ll help define the texture, mood, and recurring details of this level before excavation begins in earnest.
