[All Patrons] Just Passing Through - Blackthorn and the Church of Bael

Blackthorn is a remote colonial village perched along a rugged coastline where dark forests and sprawling marshes press against the edges of civilization. Home to roughly four hundred residents, it survives through fishing, farming, trapping, and trade. A wooden palisade surrounds much of the settlement, while a large meetinghouse dedicated to Bael, the First King, stands atop a low hill overlooking the village.

The people of Blackthorn are hardworking, deeply religious, and fiercely protective of their community. Most residents know one another by name, and strangers are uncommon enough to attract immediate attention. Though generally hospitable, villagers are slow to trust outsiders and quick to share rumors of disappearances, strange lights in the woods, and other unexplained events.

Life in Blackthorn is built upon the belief that civilization is fragile. Beyond the palisade lies a wilderness regarded with equal parts respect and fear. While the village appears orderly and prosperous, old superstitions, hidden tensions, and lingering fears quietly shape daily life beneath the surface.
