I give you guys status updates from time to time on Patreon chat and Discord, but not everyone might be reading those. So time for another status update.
One of the biggest changes to the original plan was reworking the comic system. A lot of people were having problems with comics not playing correctly and what not, so I decided to stress test the comic system on a low spec phone. It didn't crash or freeze every time, but it did happen a bit too much for my liking. So I went back to the drawing board. I tried to make the comic system as light as I could while still keeping all the features and maintaining the way I create comics, so old comics didn't need to be fully recreated. I am happy to say I managed to do just that. If this A16 can run the new system without problems, then I am sure most phones can.
Since a lot of progress has been made with many different systems, I won't be writing them all out. It would be easier if I just shared my dashboard for v0.24 to give you guys some insight about what is done and what is left. Now normally my dashboard is private, meaning I don't usually share it, and that is not really going to change. This time is just an exception.
Not everything is on it though, and some things are censored because, as I said, this is normally for my eyes only.
I am happy to say that the changes in v0.24 are turning out really well. It feels nice having everything work together instead of against each other. It becomes more and more noticeable during testing every time an old system gets migrated to the new one. Ten ShareSpace unlocks don't freeze the phone anymore. ShareSpace itself loads almost instantly. And the synchronization between AskItShareIt and the dialogue system doesn't need two subsystems just to keep it working 😅
