I'm still on break, but yesterday I just had to make this scene. It came into my head and I excitedly ran over to my desk to paint it and implement it with controls and music (adapting Mechana's controls into a 2D environment on the fly was a fun little refresher.)
As for the scene itself, this is a bit of an interesting one, I'm not entirely sure if it will appear in Mechana. I initially imagined it with her, but I also feel it may be suited for a potential game with the abstract characters I showed off earlier. Still, I like the idea of Mechana being a game full of different visual styles all running into each other. Being in a 3D environment, walking through a door, and suddenly ending up in a place that looks totally different is very attractive to me. I like it when games feel as if anything could potentially happen.
Humid summer nights, where the green trees hang above are some of my favorites. The sound of cicadas and katydids filling the air. I hope to make a game that takes place entirely in those surreal summer nights.
