DESCRIPTION

We've been working on this with RMA for awhile. I wanted them to go to a slightly more robust route (thicker backer and strike face double laminated) ultimately, I'm just the hobbyist they ask to blow stuff up and provide feedback. This new higher purity alumina strike face is doing things, that normally it can't. From our results RMA prioritized weight, and thickness of these with less safety margin. I was asked based on the R&D done, NOT To drop them for the video demo. This goes both ways I suppose. RMA provided the plates and that was their only request. I don't want to deal with the Drama of another C&D. Further the NIJ under 07 has changed the drop requirement to an ASTM standard and is in theory going to abandon the arm lever method. Perhaps that will spur a video; 06 drop vs 07 drop vs no drop test of armor and how much extra stress my method adds.

Ideally this plate design is a WIN for those larger folks who need L/XL and need to save weight. They're laminated on the front side and the strike face holds up to multi-hits. If you do drop on them, they will still perform, but you may not get 3 M2AP stoppages.

Certain parts of this multi-curve strike face shows more robustness than other parts. IE lower corners. In our upper middle we stopped M80A1, but not XM1186, but did stop XM1186 lower corner at 100+ fps.. If you were wanting an upgrade over the 1155, there's no doubt these are it.
