Hello everyone,
Last week was great. Today was a catastrophe.
First, let me say this loud and clear: back up your files. Today my main PC’s Windows installation got corrupted. After hours of trying to salvage it, I had to accept defeat and wipe everything for a fresh install.
Luckily, my scenes, images, and game scripts were safely stored elsewhere. But my DAZ libraries and scene subsets were on the corrupted drive, about 500 GB of content, and they are gone. That means all my character DUFs, render settings presets, environments, and other resources have vanished.
The silver lining is that I used them all in saved scenes, so I can reopen each one, save new subsets, and this time make sure they are backed up. It was my mistake not to do that before, but at least I did not lose any renders or main project files, which would have been the real disaster. From now on, I will back up all of my content across multiple drives and my Synology so it is safe.
As for today, it was entirely consumed by PC setup, and I am still not finished. Realistically, tomorrow will be the same. It is frustrating, but it could have been so much worse.
On to better news:
3D progress last week was solid. I did not make any animations, but I wrote a couple of scenes and produced exactly 200 renders, which I am very happy with.
Health-wise, I have been feeling off lately, low energy, maybe even mentally foggy. I got my blood tested and, apparently, I am “an absolute unit” (medically speaking). All jokes aside, I am healthy, which is reassuring. Still, something in my workflow feels wrong, so I have decided to take a week off next month to rest and reset. Until then, I will push forward, so please bear with me.
Other updates:
The animator is still ghosting me.
I am still working hard.
Women still scare me.
Current stats:
Static renders: 817
Animations: 6
Story content: 14 scenes written (12,165 words)
I need two more scenes to finish Day 2 of the update. At the moment, I am at 340 renders for that day and expect I will need another 150 to 200. It is hard to say without spoiling anything. I'm also pretty good at estimating the numbers of scenes remaining since last week I estimated 150 and ended up with 147 (The amount of content worth of script I had left)
For now, I am going back to fixing my mess. With luck, I will get some scene work done tomorrow, although hitting 1,000 renders before next week’s update will be a challenge.
Until then, take care, back up your files, and have a great week.
