Law School Episode 5 - Devlog #29
DESCRIPTION

Hello everyone,

Last week was pretty productive despite all that IRL stuff I had to deal with. I read through most of the script and fixed grammar issues here and there, but the big win was coding the Facegram conversation messages for the episode. I'd planned those message events for DAY 1 and DAY 2, with maybe a small one on DAY 3 (still not sure). DAY 1 and DAY 2 are done now, so that's a solid chunk of work behind me.

I got home Friday night and jumped into 3D work on Saturday. Right now I'm deep in that huge flashback scene, and it's kicking my ass. New characters to design, aging existing characters down, new environments to build, etc... I estimate I'll wrap it up tomorrow. On top of that I've been dealing with a ton of crashes lately, no clue why, Daz can be such a fragile app sometimes. But we ball regardless.

Good news on the release front: I finally have a date in mind for the beta testing. Some of the stuff I expected to eat up time (Steam page, trailers, music, etc.) came together way more smoothly than I thought. I'm not sharing the date yet, but I'm feeling confident about hitting it. I've even booked a week off with my family as a kind of "finish line" incentive. I work well under time pressure, so hopefully that lights a fire under me.

Anyway, let's talk numbers:

Static renders: 4,168

Animations: 171

Story content: 58 scenes written (60,487 words)

That's an extra 72 renders over the weekend. Not bad considering I was away until Saturday. My usual daily goal is around 30 renders to call it a good day. My render queue is also completely cleared out, which means no bottleneck once I get back to it. I'm giving the rigs a few days off too, in order to keep the office cooler and stay sharp.

Not much else to report. Back to that scene, aiming to wrap this episode up as fast as I can.

Take care, see you next week.MisterMaya
