He was never going to cure the rot

Greetings, adventurers! Welcome back to Quévanault one last time before our Definitive Edition release. In this post, we have the tragic conclusion to the adventure, a sickly map, a bangin' boss track, and two collabs from some of our closest pals in the creator space. Let's dive in!

Borough Guide

The entirety of this borough guide concerns Velkoth, the wicked god summoned to Quévanault ostensibly to cure the rot afflicting the fort's elves. In this PDF, you'll learn how Velkoth fell from grace. Spoiler: he spurned someone he really shouldn't have. Next, we delve into the most haunted corner of the castle. The party will have to pass a silky veil to even approach the entrance to Velkoth's domain, and then they'll have to contend with his arachnid offspring. Finally, learn how to run climactic encounters with the fallen god, and then uncover his master plan to escape the fort even if defeated.

Maps

The main exterior map for this release shows off the entrance to Velkoth's domain, a small corner of the courtyard, and much of the miserable landscape surrounding the frigid castle. We wanted to ensure you had enough space to run some exterior combat or sleuthing, so this map gives your players plenty of space to run around (while being hunted by elves, for example). For each of our Quévanault maps, we're providing a slew of variants: Winter, Summer, Swamp, Desert, Spooky, and Hell.

The interior map—available to Chief Courier patrons—expands two of the watchtowers in other sections of the castle and also provides the bizarre warped entrance to Velkoth's Nest. This space is wrong, and your players will recognize that immediately.

Music

Eldritch boss in the finale of a spooky adventure = big scary boss music for the final track. Velkoth is crunchy, dissonant combat music with a strong horror twist. This is maximally dense, maximally evil, maximally frantic fighting music. For something a tiny bit more subdued—perhaps for frightening lore dumps—put on the Nightmare variant.

Velkoth's Lair - Czepeku

When we first started brainstorming Quévanault, we knew there was only one creator we could trust to tackle Velkoth's Lair: our old pals over at Czepeku. When it comes to bizarre and colorful boss arenas, they are simply unrivaled. As always, they did not miss with this map. It's grand, weird, eldritch, spidery, and uniquely elven. Your players are going to love fighting an abyssal nightmare god in this lair.

Czepeku are the all-time greats of RPG mapmaking. Go check out the full Velkoth's Lair release at their website and then go subscribe to their Patreon!

Spawn of Velkoth - The Fluffy Folio

When we make a setting featuring weird monsters, we always have to give our pal Fluffy a call. The Fluffy Folio makes the best creepy and cute monsters for you to drag and drop into your campaigns. For this release, Fluffy tackled the Spawn of Velkoth, unnerving offspring born in the fallen god's abyssal prison. It's a simpler stat block than usual for this guy, but it's guaranteed to complicate fights with the big boss.

The Fluffy Folio has made countless bizarre creatures and unique potions that are perfect for any campaign. Go give the Patreon a follow!
