Hello all, and welcome back to Quévanault! This is our third of four releases for the boreal fort. In this release we explore the quarantined wing. This is where the bulk of your dungeoneering happens. Stay tuned for the dramatic conclusion to the frigid elven tragedy tomorrow!
Borough Guide
Our borough guide for this release concerns the rotted elves and the wing of the castle they stalk. First and foremost, we explore the source of their rot. Believe it or not: it's not the evil spider god that lingers beneath the castle. This guide provides a bunch of practical information about running sessions in this wing, namely how to motivate the party to break into the quarantined zone, their various means of ingress, and how the mode of play ought to change. Finally, we give an exhaustive list of rooms and NPCs your players might encounter within.
Maps
Our main map presents the quarantine wing in all its glory: dark and brooding amid the Cedarwood. There is an alternative entrance, but good luck breaking in past the locks and barricade. For each of our Quévanault maps, we're providing a slew of variants: Winter, Summer, Swamp, Desert, Spooky, and Hell.
Our interior maps for this release allow for careful treks across the wing: fight zombies, sneak around, gather clues, and avoid the rot! As with all of our interior maps, these are only available to couriers at the Chief Courier tier.
Music
Quarantined is dungeon music on the intense side of the scale. This is not pure spooky ambience, but driving, crunchy, miserable music for when your heart rates never gets a chance to slow. In a pinch, this will also work just fine for combat music, so long as the combat isn't meant to be too epic. Creepy echoes, flutes, and plucked strings evoke both elven tragedy and spidery silk. For a more traditional dungeon vibe, throw on the Ambient mix.
