DESCRIPTION

This is a bonus for the Centzon Totochtin drawing from last week.

Pulque gods appear in a number of codices. While I chose Codex Magliabecchiano and Tudela for the previous drawing, this one is based on Codex Borbonicus.

Most of the diagnostic elements of pulque gods are there, such as feather headdress, priestly jacket (xicolli), grass (malinalli) neck ornament, distinctive face paint and matching shield, ceremonial axe, crescent-shaped nose ornament (yacametztli), etc. However, this depiction is wearing a huge feather crest on the back. Considering the bright red color, it is likely made of roseate spoonbill or red macaw feathers.

And that's enough rabbits for this month!
