The BMO Files - Anima Ascending Released

DESCRIPTION

It's been two long years with no progress on the BMO Files front, but the huge issues I had almost given up on ever fixing are finally resolved. I'll be honest, recent AI programming worker bees have been the reason for that. I'm a game designer, I'm not an expert in network coding or AI enemy programming. Luckily, AI is. It has solved all our issues over the past couple of weeks.Thus, I'm finally able to concentrate on making the game into what it was always supposed to be. Just to paint a quick picture: An online life sim with both a thrilling single-player story and the already existing multiplayer mode. You will be able to navigate a huge city with lots of destinations and take part in all kinds of activities, have a job, earn money, and live, while the card game will be the engine for all transformations. You'll meet NPCs in the world and battle in their minds to transform them. And you'll be able to see real-world players roam the world at the same time. A 2D card game MMORPG, if you will.But unfortunately, we still have a long way to go before that dream becomes a reality. For now, the first step is to finish the card game concept. And one thing that was still missing but was present in my original paper prototype of the game is Special Anima cards, as well as other cards that interact with them. And that's what this little expansion set release finishes. We have 25 new cards added to the game.

As you can see, there are four new cards per color identity, as well as one new colorless Anima. All of these are gonna be subject to balancing over the next weeks/months/years, of course. You might also notice that some card art was not finished. I've waited for the release as long as I could before I leave for my hair transplant, but the art was still not finished. I think the artist said they will be done TONIGHT, but what does it matter when I have to leave at 4 pm? I'll see if I can trigger a patch from abroad, though. But no promises.

And I'd also like to mention that I've prepared the game to include actual rooms with clickable, navigable art. However, in this first patch, that just amounts to a prettier menu for you. You may be able to get an idea of what the game is supposed to be, but you can't really walk around campus, let alone the whole city, yet. That's for the next milestone. Walk around campus and have an AI fight with an NPC. But not for now, we'll make do with some simple room navigation and focus on fixing the card game. And one other new room object:

We now have a plant pot on the window board, and with it, we'll be able to grow our very own anima seeds. Remember when I said we have 25 new cards? Well, only 19 of those are available through the card packs that you already know. One new anima crystal per color has to be farmed. Seeds can be found randomly as match win rewards, and then June will tell you how it all continues. Basically, you'll have to imbue the planted crystal with energy from winning a game for two days, and then you get your anima card.The game is Free To Play for now but there are advantages to playing as a supporter:

(I think the deck statistics are currently broken, though, and will be fixed as soon as I'm back from my hair transplant in about three weeks.)

>>> Play Now <<<

I hope that, if nothing else, I've made you excited for the future of the game. Personally, I'm hyper-focused on the potential this game has now. It was lost to me for so long, and now I'm finally back to being really, really happy about it.

That's it for today. Hope you'll try out the game and have a lovely day.Best,Kim
