Upcoming changes to cloud character compilation

Upcoming changes to cloud character compilation
DESCRIPTION

We're making some changes to how characters are "compiled" on the cloud (i.e. how characters are processed before they can be loaded in interactions). Previously, every single uploaded character and version of those characters were compiled, even though the great majority of them were never used. This is a great waste of time, resources and storage, and as more and more characters are uploaded to the cloud, it's becoming unsustainable and costly.

Going forward, we're introducing conditions that must be met for characters to be eligible for automatic compilation.

Eligibility conditions

Version of character is used in an interaction

This is an immediate pass, since unless a compiled version of a character is available, the interaction wouldn't be possible to load.

NOTE! It's only the eligible version of character that is compiled, not all versions. (I.e. the version that was used in the interaction.)

Uploaded within the last 90 days

If a version of character was uploaded within the last 90 days, then the latest version for that character will be processed.

Character has a score of 50 or more

If a character has a score of 50 or more, then the latest version of that character will be compiled.

If any of these are true, then that version of character is will be automatically compiled.

NOTE! Even if character is not eligible, you can still initiate a cloud compilation in the new queue system.

New queue system

Any character (both those eligible for automatic compilation and those not) can be put in a prioritized queue. If a character is missing a compilation file, then instead of "Load" button, you'll see a "Queue" button. If pressed, the character will be put in a prioritized queue for immediate compilation, becoming available soon thereafter (usually within 3-10 minutes depending on server load).

All the best.
