Shading update on this one, was really looking forward to this one since there's so many special effects going on in it.
Been a while since we've done something Zelda. In truth there was a Zelda thing scheduled for last year as a collab with someone and it totally blew up because the other person kind of uh... Had a meltdown I guess? I guess I just didn't really wanna touch the series for a bit after that.
But we're back with my own twist on a sort of classic TLOZ TG. For those who don't know in the second Zelda game, Link has a spell that turns him into a fairy. Generally used for flight or entering small tunnels, the most interesting part is that the 8 bit sprite is clearly female.
This is the reason I made Link's fairy form red, rather than green as the sprite in game is red (with one white pixel for the belt). Zelda 2 is also the first appearance of Shadow Link who is a pretty hard boss fight since he can do most things you can do. Most people beat him by abusing his AI, crouching in the corner and poking him in the shins over and over.
Here's an alternate take on how he could be defeated! Rare for us to have hero initiated, hero dominant tg like this but I enjoyed it. I also stubbornly stick to mute Link even when I have the shadow talk. Let me know if you hate this approach to Link though and would rather he speak.
I went with the purplish color scheme and pink eyes. I didn't really love the way white hair (like the smash costume) looks so I just made it the same.
