ENGLISH/ESPAÑOL
Hello everybunny! We're super excited with today's post, because we can finally show the first WIP of our next pattern reward; the baby draons >w<
Starting with the design study and how to approach it, the idea was that the plush wasn't too complex. About a palm tall, with rather simple patterns. The most important elements are the open mouth and giving them a dynamic and fun pose. And, of course, that it looks fun when hanging, as we want it to be a plush keychain. Our attention would be focused on the head patterning and trying to get organic shapes. Also that the pose was able to hold an object.
With all this in mind, we went heads on to the project! We started with the head, the base of the design. It's been a while since we made an open mouth! (Since Catnap and Fuecoco). It has a difficulty plus for being so small.
But after a lot of thinking and patterning, we made the first test. You don't know how extremely happy we were to see how GOOD this first prototype looked! Its super adorable ;_; by only adding the details in paper it looks incredible. Of course it has mistakes to fix. The lower jaw needs to be shorter and wider at the tip, and fix the cheeks. But overall it's an almost perfect base!
Seeing that the first head was so good already, we decided to make the body before making a second head test. Because at the end, since it's such a small plush, it's important to see everything together before doing any changes. So we started with the body patterning. First the torso and tail, which looked like a seahorse hahaha. Then we made the arms, legs and wings.
And... what to say. This is how the first WIP looks like! It's been a long time since the patterns came out so good at the first try. It looks so mischievous and funny. So cute. It really feels like a baby dragon hanging onto something. And biting chomp chomp
Again we need to fix things. For the body, the biggest change it needs is the neck. We need to make it more upright, so the head is at the same height as the arms. This way it will be able to hold the treasure better. We also want to improve the limb and tail shapes. But all these changes to define the shapes are rather simple and straightforward.
With the base pattern done, we can confirm that this plush will actually be rather simple to sew except for the head. It's a project we hope you enjoy a lot.
What do you think??? Do you like how it's turning out?? Do you want to have one?? We'd love t know your thoughts >w<
We will start editing the pattern and after the second test, we willl probably make the embroidery design 😃
----ESPAÑOL----
Hello everybunny!
