Got quite a bit of stuff for this week too! I'll be showing off new Scenario Mechanics, some additions to the Visual Novel System and a little extra at the end.
New Scenario Mechanics - Tile Events
Every turn, you choose one of the 5 training options, improve the stat tied to the training and move on. Whilst that is simple enough for prototyping, the actual gameplay requires more action than just selecting 5 options every turn and entering a race every now and then. Therefore, I'm introducing tile events!
Tile events fall into 8 groups, namely:
General Good Effect
General Bad Effect
Vore Event
Mystery Event
Skill Acquisition Event (Wont be included in the demo)
Friendship Event (Wont be included in the demo)
Money Event
Date Event (Wont be included in the demo)
Apart from the Mystery Event, which is just a random event tile, each tile will cause a specific event to trigger and gain effects depending on what it was.
A note on the event groups that won't be included in the demo, as those events require specific gameplay mechanics that are not slated to be included in the demo. As such, their implementation will be at a later date when the gameplay mechanics they depend on are implemented.
Story Triggers and Preconditions for Visual Novels
Till now, stories mostly existed in a vacuum. Minding their own business unless you specifically added them into a Scenario Graph. But with the new tile event mechanics, this changes!
You will now be able to make your story, choose what tile will trigger it, how likely is it to trigger, how many times it can be triggered or even choose a prerequisite story to be played to create story progressions! I plan on adding more options and fine grained controls like a story to be played after a race etc. next week.
A little extra - Portrait mode Character Inspector on Mobile
I also wanted to get some work done on the future Android port cause why not. So, let me introduce... portrait mode in Character Inspector! When you open up a character in the Character Inspector, if you rotate your phone into portrait orientation, the UI will be hidden and the character will be... SCALED UP! So you can admire your beautiful Kemokko in greater detail!
