This week has been a little busy trying to come up with a balance for the game, trying to hit a point where it feels hard enough but not overly unforgiving whilst being not too easy at the same time along with cooking new Visual Effects for the lobby, general bug fixing and adding new cool features to the Visual Novel system. It's as busy as it sounds. So, without further ado, lets get to it!
Visual Effects in the Lobby
Inspired by the season, I decided to add in little weather effects to the lobby depending on time of the year, ranging from light snowfall to heavy rain to calm weather randomly popping in every now and then. Hopefully making the lobby more dynamic. I'll add more visuals to the lobby later on but for now, it feels adequate for the Demo.
Screen Effects in Visual Novels and Some QoL improvements
It wouldn't be a racing game with some proper "anime rush line" effects. So here it is in all of its glory, Screen Effects! You'll be able to add in screen effects to your Visual Novels to add more atmosphere.
You may have also noticed the colors and some new buttons on the top left...
Visual Novel Editor QoL Enhancements and Node Editor Macro Overhaul
I've got in some more features for those who want to create stories using the in game editors too! Added Global Macro support to both the Visual Novel and the Scenario Editors. Allowing you to create useful macros and use them in any story you create! Along with some color coding of nodes with similar purposes together combined with the ability to make the nodes transparent so its easier to follow the order of execution along the graph when lines are obscured below nodes.
Upcoming Stuff...
A new and improved belly animation system (The above image might give some clues to the technically inclined...)
Visual Effects in Races
Some other fancy stuff I might end up needing whilst implementing the story and characters into the gameplay elements.
