① Today’s Sketches

Today I tried drawing four different eye styles.

I’m not really aware of what makes my art style “me.”

Even though I try to vary my style, I’m often told, “That’s definitely Kagari-machi’s style.”

I think there’s probably an unconscious bias in the shape of the faces and the placement of facial features.

So I figured if I tried changing up the eye styles a bit, something might become clear, and that’s why I drew these.

It’s like… it’s almost there, but something’s still off…

It feels a bit like right before Orochi Dokubo realizes the “Fist of the Bodhisattva”… that kind of feeling.

② Amazing Digital Circus

The Amazing Digital Circus, which I’d been looking forward to, finally aired its finale on the 2nd…

I’ll refrain from spoilers, but it was the kind of ending that made me go, “Oh, so that’s how it went~~~~” Because of that, I had a hard time falling asleep…

③ I’m Also Hooked on Othello

Lately, I’ve been losing constantly at Othello to a friend who plays board games, so I finally installed a beginner’s Othello app.

I tried studying using the mode where you can learn strategies, how to win, and the theory behind the game.

It was way deeper and more interesting than I imagined…

Up until now, my understanding was just a vague notion that “it’s better not to flip too many pieces,” but there’s actually a solid theory behind it, including expected values for where to place pieces, and I got completely hooked all at once.

Specifically, the key seems to be how much the number of possible moves for your opponent changes when you place a piece in a certain spot.

If it increases the number of possible moves, it’s a bad move; if it decreases them, it’s a good move.

If I can visualize this in my head, Othello will probably become even more fun.
