Dear diary,
Sorry, I couldn’t write yesterday because I had a lot to do, but I didn’t want to miss our weekly date.
Well, we finally saw what Bertrán thinks after learning that Adara has been lying all this time. This is one of those chapters where I’d like this story to be told in a TV show format. There are times when I struggle expressing with a drawing what the characters are feeling, especially when it’s a conversation full of different emotions and tension. If they were actors, we could see the nuances of each sentence in their intonation and gestures, and we could understand more clearly what the characters say and what they keep to themselves.
When I imagined this scene, the images that came to my mind were clear and quite evocative. Everything happened early in the morning, when the sun hadn’t even risen. It was cold and everything was silent except for some early bird. The coachman was putting the bags in the carriage as Adara left the house covered with her cape and bonnet. She was wearing the dress she came in on her first day, dark and modest, and had dark circles from not sleeping.
But then I realized that it didn’t add up that a whole day and night had passed since the last chapter, so I changed the morning to the afternoon of the same day when everything was discovered. There is not much visual change, considering that I don’t use color, but if it was a TV show, I would’ve been very annoyed not having been able to make it as gloomy as I had imagined.
It took me a while to decide where to stage the scene with Elicia: I needed the two friends to say goodbye and that Adara give her some of her dresses, and also that Adara didn’t blame Marie for having misplaced the letter. But in the end, it turned out well and it works as a chapter ending to better understand why Adara is leaving.
And that would be all about this chapter. As for the last one from Fast Pass... well, I’m sorry to say it’s the last one before a hiatus of several weeks. As I told you in the previous entry, I need time to rest a little, but mostly to plan the rest of the series. I have only four episodes before finishing, and I want them to be as emotional as possible. Two of them are pretty clear in my mind, but the other two still need a lot of work.

Perdón, ayer no pude escribir porque tenía muchas cosas que hacer, pero no quería perderme nuestra cita semanal.
Bueno, al fin hemos visto qué es lo que Bertrán piensa después de enterarse de que Adara ha estado mintiendo durante todo este tiempo. Este es uno de esos capítulos en los que me gustaría que esta historia fuese contada en una serie de televisión. Hay momentos en los que me cuesta expresar con un dibujo lo que los personajes están sintiendo, especialmente cuando se trata de una conversación llena de diferentes emociones y tensión. Si fueran actores, podríamos ver los matices de cada frase en su entonación y en sus gestos, y podríamos entender más claramente tanto lo que los personajes dicen como lo que callan.
Cuando me imaginé esta escena me vinieron a la cabeza imágenes muy claras y muy evocadoras. Sucedía a primera hora de la mañana, cuando ni siquiera había salido el sol. Hacía frío y todo estaba en silencio excepto por algún pájaro madrugador. El cochero estaba colocando las maletas en el carruaje mientras Adara salía de la casa con su capa y su bonete. Llevaba el vestido con el que llegó el primer día, oscuro y modesto, y tenía ojeras por no haber dormido.
Pero luego me di cuenta de que no cuadraba que hubiera pasado todo un día y una noche desde el último capítulo, así que cambié la mañana por la tarde del mismo día en el que todo se había descubierto. No hay mucho cambio visual, teniendo en cuenta que no uso color, pero si fuera una serie de televisión me hubiera fastidiado mucho no haber podido hacer que fuera tan sombrío como me lo había imaginado.
Me costó un poco decidir dónde poner la escena con Elicia: necesitaba que las dos amigas se despidieran y que Adara le regalara sus vestidos, y también que Adara no culpara a Marie por haberse equivocado con la carta. Pero al final quedó más o menos bien como fin de capítulo para poder entender mejor por qué Adara se va.
Y eso sería todo sobre este capítulo. En cuanto al último de Fast Pass… bueno, siento deciros que es el último antes de un parón de varias semanas. Como ya os conté en la entrada anterior, necesito tiempo para descansar un poco, pero sobre todo para planear el resto de la serie. Ya sólo me queda hacer los cuatro últimos capítulos y quiero que sean lo más emotivos posible. Dos de ellos los tengo bastante claros en el coco, pero los otros dos necesitan todavía mucho trabajo.
