i've got a knack for shooting myself in the foot when making comics, but wanting to go above and beyond with the detailing of backgrounds that often aren't even visible in the final product, but damn it, drawing is just so much fun, and it's the little details that make a piece pop for me!
as promised, we're continuing with the Cheeky Con comics! back to Leo and Magna as they have a little stroll down artist alley, only to find some familiar faces~
i may be biased, but artist alley has always been the highlight of a convention to me. seeing everyone's physical media and being able to support artists directly is just such an exciting and fun experience for me, i just had to make a comic about it within the theme of a Con!
i also couldn't help but bust out ol' reliable meta humour for this, not just having the very first depiction of me, the artist, in an official Slapstick Together comic (which i'm sure will get very dated very quickly) but also poking a little fun at folks who get REALLY into the lore of certain series (myself included) when in reality, it doesn't go all the deep!
frankly, i would love NOTHING more than to make all that merch reality. the little pins would honestly kinda work as Discord emojis, hmmmm...the Leo and Magna plushies would be AMAZING (though i'd make them look more accurate in reality, i dumbed them up a bit in this for the gag~) and a Stevie body pillow? sign me up. Plus another one just off to the side? who could THAT be? probably Jenny, if i had to guess, but who would YOU like a body pillow of? that's right, i'm farming engagement now, i'm hip and cool like that. don't forget to like, share and subscribe!
to top it all off, i couldn't help but include a few other easter eggs in therei ORIGINALLY wanted to have every booth either parody or showcase a fellow artist, but after finishing the Mr.Peculiar booth (seen in greater detail in the bonus panel, which i've included here on Patreon with brighter colors, so you can enjoy all those tiny details~) i realized just how long this already very time consuming comic would take, so... they other ones were left a bit bare and generic, feel free to fill them in your mind with your favorite artists!
and as a final final reference, we see some cosplayers walking by dressed as totally not Hatsune Miku and definitely not Kasane Teto!(forgive me, i've been in a vocaloid kick lately)
