Bring a little piece of the Shire to your bookshelf with the Reading Hobbit Bookend! Inspired by one of my favorite moments from The Lord of the Rings, when Frodo sits beneath a tree, quietly reading while waiting for Gandalf. I wanted to recreate that peaceful feeling while adding a practical twist.
The tree doubles as a storage holder for bookmarks, pens, pencils, or other desk accessories, and I've also included an optional vase insert if you'd like to display dried flowers or greenery to enhance the natural look. Whether it sits on a bookshelf, desk, or reading nook, it makes a functional display piece for fantasy lovers.
Print Settings I Used
Layer Height: 0.20 mm
For the highest detail on the hobbit, use a lower layer height.
Walls: 2
Infill: 5% Gyroid
Supports: Enabled for the Hobbit only
Seam: Back
Filament
I used a mixture of matte greens, browns, and wood-style PLA from a variety of brands. Feel free to use whatever colors you prefer—the model looks great with almost any earthy color palette.

The single-color parts print in roughly the same amount of time on either printer. The biggest speed improvement comes from printing the multicolor hobbit on a four-nozzle printer like the Snapmaker U1 instead of a single-nozzle printer.
If you're printing multiple copies on a Bambu Lab A1 or another single-nozzle multicolor printer, placing several hobbits on the build plate at once can significantly reduce the total print time and material wasted on color changes.
