The way you get into the mech as a pilot is by its mouth, its the same entrance for stomach and storage. Where the throat leads is up to Scarlet to decide. While in pilot entrance mode, it leads to the chest area under breasts where the pilot sits, stomach is in the belly area, and storage is in the breasts area.

Before the linking is complete the pilot chamber is filled with fluid (reference!) and back of the pilot has to be linked with a cable, after that their minds are connected, thinking and feeling the same sensations, allowing for way higher performance.
