Hello my little gremlins. Glad to see that most of you survived the week. Are you guys hungry for some production updates? FAMISHED you say? Well you’re in luck because it’s FLASHGITZ FRIDAY!
Production is going great, AS USUAL! Nothing dramatic, nothing exploded this week, nobody got AIDS (as far as I’m aware.) The team has just been diligently chugging along, powered by your hard-earned dineros.So far in production, we got most of the animatic completed, a majority of the assets for the toon completed, and we almost have the opening animation completed! You guys are totally gonna cream your jeans when you see the opening. Then, you guys are going to tell your friends to watch Space King. Then, you’ll tell them about these sweet blogposts, which will get them to subscribe to our Patreon, which will then help finance more epic episodes of Space King. Sound like a plan?
Today I want to show off what the fellas over in assets are up to. They’ve been making a lot of props for the episode recently and it’s been very interesting to see their evolution. Especially since we can afford to put more time into designing different props that would usually be considered unimportant in a regular parody. Check them out!

This is what I meant by a prop that would be considered “unimportant”. We wouldn’t normally put this much attention into something as simple as a clipboard for a parody cartoon, but thanks to the support from our BROTHERS and GREEDY BROTHERS, now we can design as many clipboards as our little hearts desire (shameless plug for you Patreonis <3)

What do you guys think about these assets? They look pretty fuckin sweet right? We have very powerful artists working around the clock to make sure you guys get a kick-ass toon. None of the baby shit you see on other cartoons. REAL MAN stuff like SKULLS and SHINY RED BUTTONS. We’re making sure to integrate more grimdark-themed imagery into the Star Defender’s tools and weapons so they can really stand out and hold their own design-wise. Don’t be surprised if everything from this point on has a skull or two tacked on to the side.Speaking of powerful artists, our very powerful and very handsome background artists have been working on some color tests for a while now. These are the colors that will probably be used when the boys do the Scooby-Doo chase scene in this hallway.
The lights in the ship that cast a spooky red glow on the squad is very important. How else would we know that these are the good guys?
An eerie, muted light for this room where totally nothing happens. Ignore the red stains on the floor. What you just saw were color tests created by the background department. This helps demonstrate how the different environment’s lighting will interact with the characters, which will later be replicated in the compositing phase after animation.
