The Family

We have just started to dip our toes into the Court of Blades TTRPG system, which features a fantastical Renaissance-era setting rife with political intrigue and exploits. Our coterie hails from House Elanda - traders, merchants, and power brokers. We have been working out how a family that comes from noble traditions might grapple with fast-moving modern political situations. In the end, our House ended up looking very much like 15th-century Florence!

The Prince

Prince Francesco II Elanda is the dragon's head of House Elanda in our story. A confident, self-assured, part-time hedonist who understands that power is the true currency that can purchase life's pleasures. In pursuit of riches, the Prince has contributed to the very drama that kicks our story off! Francesco (or Frankie, as we have nicknamed him for his mafia-like ways) the is illegitimate father of one member of our coterie, a fact that will assuredly come to haunt him like an Italian vendetta tale.

The Lord

Lord Gavrillo Avington is the perfect noble on paper: unique looks, good stock, and a name that carries influence. Or perhaps, once did. Lord Gavrillo's most successful ploy to date was marrying into House Elanda, as his own family's fortunes have taken a tumble in recent decades. The good-natured lord takes it in stride; after all, he has raised two successful nobles who are entering the Grand Game of Ilrien's cutthroat politics. Wherever there are high spirits and low requirements, Lord Gavrillo enhances the room with his presence, always ready to share a quip, personal anecdote, or joke to get the conversation going.

Together, Lady Francesca and Lord Gavrillo manage the bulk of the entertaining, hosting, and more reputable events of House Elanda.

The Commoner

Dela Genovese is the standout in this group, but not out of place. She is an immigrant, mother, and performer in the grand city of Ilrien, and mother to the Prince's illegitimate daughter. Her view on life has always been positive, despite her circumstances. As a commoner, her trysts with the Prince have put her at risk of scrutiny the House Elanda, as well as other who might take an interest.

The Lady

Lady Francesca Elanda is the House's better representation on the Grand Council, its brains and long-term strategist, and Frankie's twin. As the mother of two more members in the coterie, the Lady Elanda is a prominent part of the House's current reputation and influence in the City of Ilrien by the start of the story. She's demanding, but not for naught; to study and keep pace with the city requires training, perfection, and the desire to never be on the bad end of a deal.

With a court to manage and relatives to keep out of the scandal circuit, Lady Elanda prefers the rigors of a schedule to her brother's risk-taking, deal-making behavior. The two, while frequently at moral odds, are integral to the House's ever-careful balance in a city that is caught between tradition and intrigue.

Map Pairing: The Senator's Villa

We've paired these characters with the Senator's Villa, a luxurious mansion fit for a wealthy noble. The mansion serves the interests of a powerful noble, likely belonging to the Prince and his family.
