Thank you for supporting this project through another month! I'd like to share what we have installed for May, starting with the second part of Priderstar's origin story:
This is a flashback to the Snares' younger years as junior lifeguard lion. While the goal of the 4-panel strips is to generate as many reusable art assets for the future, a unique scene like this does require artwork tailored for the moment. It's also more action-oriented unlike previous strips where they're more dialogue-driven.
I knew in my mind that younger Snares would have a mohawk similar to how maturing lions in the wild do when their manes are developing. Since they're growing up in the 80s, I figured I'd give him a mullet as well to capture the times.
After fiddling around a fair bit, I decided to change the layouts a bit for better clarity. The problem with images looking too similar in shot size (when they should be different) causes a "jump-cut" effect which can be jarring for readers. For the 3rd panel, I went with a side view to make it clearer that the lifeguard was diving deep down, and also to create the feeling that an indiscernible amount of time had passed before reaching the star.
While that's that for this month's preview, I may have to double up my production speed in May. I'm happy to share that I'll be starting my content writing internship on the 11 May 2026, which will help alleviate finances and allow me to save up some. The internship is expected to last 2 months and end on 11 July 2026, shortly before our planned Aurawra trip - which to be honest, is looking rough given the fuel prices right now.
For the most part, I'm trying to maintain my current pace and ADHD-friendly workflows for now, given the constant fluctuations in life. I'm also slowing down on my commissions a bit and diverting my time to move further with my Patreon project this month. While I've restrained myself from adding new reward tiers, I hope to improve conversion rates and provide more content options for everyone. We'll reassess how things go after my internship and adjust accordingly, with the primary goal of keeping workloads and processes sustainable for the long term.
