HELLO, dear bros. How is life? I’m feeling a bit low on energy, so I decided to take it easy this Monday. There will be no additional content this week — just your usual, trusty Monday Post, and that’s it. Thank you for your understanding.
PRINCESS QUEST IS BUGGED. Apparently, the credits don’t show up after you beat the game on Jasmine’s ending, and that prevents items in the gallery and the endings viewer from unlocking properly. I took a look at the code, and the problem was caused by a weird string of code that I did not put there. I think it was added by default by the latest version of the engine I use to pack my games these days for better compatibility (I still code using the old version, though, because it’s more comfortable). Anyway, I need to consult with Xaljio about this before releasing a patched build.
SPEAKING OF PRINCESS QUEST. MrLazare sent me a couple of promotional art pieces for the game that I simply had to share. They look so good T_T (originals are in the attachments to this post). That being said, to be honest with you, even though I’m not in the AI haters club, I am getting a bit burned out by it as a whole. I mean, it’s literally everywhere now. I see it on TV, in commercials, in advertisements around the city. I don’t know... I think I’m starting to feel about it the same way I feel about digital drawings versus hand-drawn ones: I always enjoy hand-drawn stuff more, even if it’s objectively worse than a digital drawing. And it’s kind of the same here — when I see a poorly designed sign or an ad, I almost like it more because I know it was created by some dude. Weird, huh?
HOLLYWOOD NEWS. Apparently, they are making a new Conan movie. I’m a big fan of the original, but I have zero interest in any remakes these days. I would much rather watch it on a VHS tape. Also, some guy on Twitter has already spoiled the main plot for me:"He's going to be a washed up loser and some young girl boss is going to come to him for training. Then he's going to die in some stupid way and with his dying words tell her "You are the Conan now," in that iconic accent."
A COOL LITTLE THING. A link to a fun little website was shared with me. Supposedly, the site can turn any website into a nostalgia-bait version of itself. After trying it out, I can say that not every website works with it, and the ones that do pretty much always end up looking the same. But the main problem for me was realizing that the only websites that popped into my mind were Google, YouTube, and Twitter. Apparently, those are the only sites I ever visit. That’s fucking sad. NEW SPIDER-MAN. A new Spider-Man movie trailer has been released. I think it looks like crap, but then again, I haven’t liked any of the Spider-Man movies that came after the original Sam Raimi trilogy. I must say, though, that I really enjoyed the previous one — but only because they brought back the original Spidey, Doctor Octopus, and Goblin (and even Sandman to some extent). Anyway, just an old man rambling about things being better back in the day… moving on.
MX$50.00 MEMBER. I got a message from Patreon saying that I have a new MX$50.00 member! That’s a crazy high pledge, so it got my attention. And then I was like, wait a second — why is there “MX” in front of the amount? Usually it just says $2.50 or $5.00 or whatever. I decided to check, and on the website it says that this new patron is actually on a FREE tier. That just goes to show that I literally have no idea how Patreon works anymore.
SPEAKING OF WHICH, last week TrapHunter69 raised his pledge and said that if senpai will notice him — he will be very cross with him (me). Thanks for the support, man. When it comes to the business side of things, I am a fucking embarrassment, so I would never be able to actually run my business and survive if not for the donations people send me (that’s literally my only source of income). That being said, I’m always hesitant to talk about this because I know not everyone enjoys the spotlight. But you, TrapHunter69, made it clear that you do, and I’m happy to provide it. THE GAMES. I continue to play Luminous Arc 2 on my DSi. Like I mentioned before, the writing in the story is somewhat mediocre, but the thoughts of the upcoming romantic endings keep me engaged. I also appreciate the juvenile elements of some events that would be drastically altered if this game were released today. There was a small side event where the 12-year-old witch Pop publicly accused one of the main characters of something questionable, and later got scolded about how it’s the worst thing ever to falsely accuse men of something like that. Personally, I thought the whole event was a bit too on the nose, but I also understand how much of an uproar an story like that would generate these days.
COOL WEEB THING. I watched a short vid showing off a weird setup one guy put together to play old VN games. To keep it short, he decided to use an old phone instead of a speaker, which makes every girl sound like she’s talking to you on the phone. I thought it was pretty creative. I doubt I’d play a game like that, but it’s nice to see people getting creative with their wholesome hobbies like that :)
THE WORK. Last week, I spent a lot of time working on the final skater girl CG. Basically, she will have two full screen CGs in the game and a few slight variations and one more small CG . A bit too much work for a side character, but it is what it is. I’m just happy that I’ll soon be done with all of this. Time to move on XD
