Hey, everyone.I'm not really sure how to word this and I feel anxious writing it, but here it goes. The last few months have been terrible. Around Easter I lost one of my closest friends to his health issues. He went in for a surgery and sadly wasn't able to come out of it. He was in his 30s and was a single dad who left behind young children, all of whom were friends with my own. Then, following his loss, Nora (another friend and co-writer that I bring up often) had a major surgery of her own that didn't happen until a few weeks ago. Luckily, it seems that hers was successful. But I was very scared the entire time, we both were, and I found it very difficult to focus on much else as we got closer to that deadline. This was on top of life hitting me with a lot of one-two punches. I have my own health issues that I'm working through and I no longer have access to health insurance, so now I have to just deal with them. This comes on top of growing financial struggles that left me fighting (and sometimes losing) to keep my internet and power on. That's just surface stuff but... I've been a bit of a mess for a little while, and it's made it very difficult to find creativity and/or motivation. Especially these last couple of months.I know I offered a comic following my last response and I thought I'd be able to do something, but I failed pretty hard and I'm really sorry about that. I completely understand those of you who chose to stop supporting my work, because it's been a while since my labor bore fruit. Also, this isn't a post looking to make excuses or to ask for any sort of pity, I just don't know how else to be transparent in a time like this, since the last thing I want to do with my platform is bring people down at all. Still, I couldn't just say nothing after this time. I know I'm just a random person on the internet, so why should anyone care, right? But I had to share something. With that said, I'm not done creating my stories. I'm still working through a lot of things, but grieving someone who was practically family and the fear of losing another had me absolutely paralyzed. I'm grateful Nora's doing well, and that's reduced some of the weight on my heart right now. Those that follow her stories might even see her return to writing soon, which is great. I've even found the drive to create again, and I've been working steadily on my next comic for the last few days, so I figured I'd check in and offer up one more communication before that's ready, and hopefully provide an explanation to those that sought one. The story that's on its way is pretty big, too, which doesn't help. Below is the title image for it, so keep an eye out for it. I hope it'll be coming your way very soon, I just need to finish the last few renders and finish writing the darn thing. I'm not confident where my head will be in each day to come, as some days are easier than others and some feel impossibly difficult, but I do hope I can finish this and find the momentum I need to continue with future stories. So long as I'm able to keep my utilities on and my own health doesn't get in the way of things, I should be in a good place to release it this coming week. But if anything changes, I'll let you know.
Thank you for being here and as grim as this post was, I'm still excited to get this story in your hands. I think you'll really like it and the follow-up to come.<3 Kara
