Feature Preview: Custom Strictnesses. Help me name them!

DESCRIPTION

This is one of those features that has been requested many times and I'm happy to report that it's coming in 3.28 (and PoE2 next league).

My filter comes in 7 strictnesses. This is a concept that has existed for years.

It's time to spice it up. In this post I'll give you a breakdown of:

What's coming

Why it's useful for you

A bit of a technical insight on how it works behind the scenes!

Let's dive right in!

TL;DR: Custom mix-and-match strictness is coming, plus 3 new ultra-strict tiers. Help me name them!

So here's the big new feature: You can now mix and match strictnesses!

Here are some use cases:

Uber-Plus-Strict filter, but... currencies and uniques are Strict

Very Strict filter, but Semi-Strict leveling

Preserve all fractured and memory-stranded items, while hiding all other gear and crafting bases.

(work in progress screenshots, the sliders are work-in-progress and will receive more polish)

It's important to note that you can change these anytime, not just when you start creating your filter!

ALSO: There are now 3 extra strictnesses beyond Uber-Plus-Strict (names pending). These are designed to be ABSURDLY strict.

Uber+2 Strict will hide chaos orbs and items that can easily be worth 5–10 chaos.

Uber+3 Strict will hide 'annulment tier' items

Apex Strict will hide 'Exalted' tier items. ONLY Tink-drops and truly exotic items show!

Do you have suggestions for the names? I'm not 100% happy with the current naming — outside of Apex Strict, maybe.

These features intended for crazy leagues like Affliction (or the PoE2 temple), magic-find parties, or if you just want to focus on the big-ticket items and have a clean screen otherwise.

It should be noted that these are only available on FilterBlade through the 'Customize Strictness' menu (they're dangerous, niche and I'm also out of slots on my PoE profile).

For those who wonder how this works internally:

I develop the filter in a custom programming language (.exo) that I wrote specifically to have a high-quality tool for designing filters. The language comes with a lot of safeguards, abstractions, and other tooling.

Most rules are equipped with a strictness tag, such as %H6 — an instruction that hides the rule at strictness level 6. Other tags can enable rules, modify their appearance, and more.

This also makes it very easy to adjust tiering. If something needs to become stricter, I can change a rule from %H3 to %H2 and suddenly that rule is hidden on Strict instead of Very Strict.

Additionally, I use a system of 'waypoints' that slice the filter into sections. These can be used to enable/disable groups of rules, and FilterBlade also uses them to insert new rules in safe locations.

Anyway, tell me 3 things:

What do you think about the feature? Do you want different 'clusters' for custom strictness settings?

What's your best take on the names of the extended strictnesses?

How hyped are you for the upcoming league?? Because my body is SO ready for 3.28!

Thank you for your support. More teasers to come.
