We're well into development on the BoB2 update, and many of you have asked for more dev blog style progress reports.
Going forward, we're going to be more transparent about where development stands and how we forecast progress.
Internally, we look at every milestone through three lenses:
Optimistic – Everything goes right.Realistic – What we currently expect to happen.Conservative – What happens if we encounter delays or development takes longer than planned.
In the past, we've often communicated timelines based on the optimistic outcome. Moving forward, we'll share all three so everyone has a clearer picture of where things stand.
Release Window
Optimistic: End of June
Realistic: Mid July
Conservative: End of July
At the time of writing, our realistic target remains mid July. An end-of-June release is still possible.
Content
Optimistic: 30+ scenes at release
Realistic: 18-20 scenes at release
Conservative: 10+ scenes at release
At this stage, we're expecting to land somewhere within the realistic range. Hitting 30+ scenes would require development to continue moving exceptionally well.
Mechanics
Optimistic: Most planned mechanics are implemented and have meaningful content.
Realistic: Several core systems and mechanics are available to explore.
Conservative: The update focuses primarily on story content, with mechanics arriving in later updates.
Our current focus is ensuring the core gameplay experience is solid rather than trying to force every planned mechanic into the initial release.
We're also preparing a prototype build for our testing team in the coming days. The goal is to identify issues early and make adjustments before release.
Hopefully this gives everyone a better idea of where development currently stands and what to realistically expect over the next several weeks.ThanksGunsmoke Games.
