Dev Log 79
Hey guys! How are you all doing?
It's dev log time once again, and I'm happy to report another productive couple of weeks. The script for 0.15 is now totally complete, with the editing and proofreading also finished. I mentioned last time that this one was way too long, and it really was. Even after I removed a handful of unnecessary scenes it still comes out to 42,000 words, making it another record setter. This also marks the first time an update has been longer than the 0.1 release.
Other than that, I've finished up all of the little between-update chores I mentioned in the last dev log, and I've now moved onto the loooong process of rendering and animating.
Which brings me onto a question I was thinking about asking you all in the last update: As you know I do these dev logs every other Sunday, however with the updates increasing in length there are long periods when I'm rendering where I don't have much to say other than "Hey guys, done another 300 renders. See you again in 2 weeks." and I always feel a little guilty about notifying you when I don't have anything more interesting to tell you.
So how would you feel about reducing it to 1 dev log per month during the rendering phase? To be honest I'm happy to do it either way if you like me simply checking in every couple of weeks, so just let me know what you prefer in the replies if you have a preference!
Next, I mentioned in the last dev log some changes I was contemplating making to the character models (specifically the hair/eye rendering), but after a lot of experimentation I've decided against it - the technical improvements were counterbalanced by just as many drawbacks, and the changes in appearance therefore weren't really worth it. So yeah, gonna be sticking with what was in 0.14, at least for the immediate future.
Finally, I've attached what I think is a somewhat interesting custom render set this time - alternate universe Cosy Cafe, where the harem is made up of different characters. I rather enjoyed remaking a few of the more iconic renders for this, though to be honest I could never truly swap the main girls, no matter how cute these ones are!
And I think that's all I have to say for this one. As always, thank you all for your support - I always appreciate it!
