yes i saw the u-haul receipt 😅 [EXCLUSIVE BTS]

A ton of people have been bringing the u-haul developments to my attention regarding the BRICKS-AND-MINIFIGS lego story, and I wanted to share a couple things:

My behind-the-scenes process with these kinds of leads.

The TL;DR is this.

People discovered that the company who rents U-HAULs keep internal records of when trucks are checked-in, and in the case of Brandon Best, internal records showed a U-HAUL check-in time of 6:12 AM on November 15, 2023.

This is several hours different from the original photo that Brandon Best provided showing a photo dropping off the truck at 12:41 AM-- and some theorized that this could explain where some of the missing lego ultimately were: transported to the Eugene store covertly and sold.

This would be, if true, an explosive finding, and I quitely followed up on this, talked to a GM at U-HAUL, and...!?

It seems that this is just a quirk in the way U-HAUL records check-in times. Boring.

I didn't feel the need to address this publicly... there's not a lot to say. It was an interesting lead, but ultimately proved to be inconclusive. That said, given the intense public speculation on this case I felt like pulling the curtain back and sharing a bit of my reporting process.
