A warm welcome to new patrons. It’s been encouraging to see this kind of traction from making artwork in my little corner of the internet, and it makes me believe a little more every month that I can actually make a viable living from it. Which is a dream. I’m very happy you’re here :)
And also by way of introduction, the sketchpages I post here are a combination of older scribbles and very recent ones. I’m doing it in kind of a “sandwich” method, like how some people listen to podcasts. It’s a thing. Essentially none of these pages have been posted publicly, and few have even been shared for perusal by trusted friends. They’re really just practice and study pages meant for my eyes only (and now for Patreon I guess).
This happens to be an older sketchpage, from when I was very interested in figuring out honey badger designs. And clearly lifting a lot of inspiration from Zootopia. There’s a significant over-representation of European badger in furry art, and while I do still love them I’d like to bolster the numbers of other species when I can sneak them in.
There’s also prep sketches for a kigu YCH and the initial sketches for “Cozy Up” (FA | e621). I don’t draw a ton of mice and did a little practice on the fly… but if you wanna talk about under-represented, it’s striking how many mice are in the cartoons of yesteryear and how few show up in furry art by comparison.
