What a delightful woman-...er, devil.
Her first instinct was to mess with my head, for whatever reason she came up with. I'd felt a strange probing sensation, one that tried to take over the place in my heart reserved solely for my parents. I wasn't really mad at her though.
I was just excited that someone with powers decided to run a fade the moment they saw me.
"Don't worry," I leaned in close to whisper in her ear, "I always stand on business."
"How can you resist-"
"I work out a lot."
Her beautiful ringed orange eyes narrowed considerably. Somehow, choking her out wasn't really affecting her anymore. "That doesn't make any sense."
"Because being able to mind control people is definitely logical. Isn't it?"
I heard a click. The strange pony-tailed dude that came in with her pulled out the sword on his back and pressed the edge up against my throat. Behind us, Denji let go of his slice in a panic before running over to us. He dared not actually attack either of us though.
"Let her go if you want to keep that head attached."
"Aki, is it?" I leaned my head his way, grinning, "Swing."
He called my dare immediately, and pressed the blade right into my neck. The steel failed to even break skin. I took a step forward, planning on smashing Makima through the door, but stopped myself.
Denji and Power had been good hosts.
As the three watched, I calmly opened the door.
"Thank you for having me over, Denji."
Alice bowed for the both of us, bringing her ears low, "We thank you for your hospitality, we do politely."
"Yeah, su-" He blurted out. "Wait no! Where the hell are you goin' with Makima?!"
"Nowhere."
I stepped onto the ledge, letting the orange-haired Devil dangle off the edge. She still refused to break eye contact. With a plain smile, Makima pointed a finger at my face again. That invisible attack of hers was coming again. Instead of taking it to the face again, I let her neck go. She plummeted to the ground.
"We're several stories up, but I really doubt that's gonna hurt her."
"She seems like a mental type, master-sir."
I stepped aside, narrowly avoiding the sword Aki tried to jam through my butt, then jumped to avoid the slice aimed at both of my legs without ever even looking back at him. He was being controlled by her too most likely, so there was no point in hurting him at all.
"Man, I really want some kind of sensory ability."
"You can learn, easily I think." Alice reassured me, "Your mana stat must be so very high, really really high, if I can't see it."
I pressed my lips together, tilting my head as I raised a foot to avoid another stab, "Yeah, but magic needs you to study a lot, doesn't it? I'm not very good at that."
"You've made that very clear, master-sir! Don't worry, I can make any tome or grimoire into a one-time use skill book, I can indeed! You still need to find them which-" She smiled happily, and raised her paws into the air, "-sounds like an...?"
My eyes lit up.
""Adventure!""
With the prospect of firing off fireballs igniting me further, I stepped off the ledge and dropped into the parking lot. Makima stood there waiting, hands behind her back as she leaned to the side.
"You are weaker than me." She proclaimed, letting her braid fall over her shoulder. "Because you're human."
"You haven't even seen me serious yet, miss."
I beckoned her with my fingers.
Then, my world became black.
"Woah."
There was a wet tongue sloshing beneath my feet, and a massive jaw lined with sharp fangs both above and below. I retrieved Freed-... MY lightsaber from my pockets. With a flick, a blade of pure light formed above the white hilt. When the teeth bit down, I drove the beam straight through the strange creature's palate. The flesh tore with a strange sizzle before the entire cavity began to shake furiously.
"Ugh! How prickly! I'm not eating this one!"
The massive creature that had swallowed me up faded away into the air, and I was, once again, face to face with Makima. She studied me with some curiosity, gaze lingering on the lightsaber in my hand. I understood quickly that she was taking me about as seriously as I was her... which was to say, not at all.
She didn't even consider me a threat.
"Won't you join the Public Devil Hunters?" Makima asked politely, "You could earn a lot of money."
"I don't really need money."
She thought for a moment, "Then, you could fight really strong Devils."
Now that was an offer I genuinely considered, even going so far as to stuff my sword back in my pants. The moment I did, Aki dropped down on me, intent on driving his sword through my shoulder. I backhanded him calmly. The blow hit him on the chin, hard enough to knock him out cold.
"You're a really strong Devil too."
She tilted her head the other way, "To kill me, you'd have to kill all the people of Japan. Are you sure you can do that?"
I looked at Alice for confirmation. The talking rabbit considered the idea for a moment, then began nodding fervently.
"Devils can make contracts, it's their nature, master-sir. If she has a contract with someone like the prime minister, then it's possible!"
That was pretty troublesome.
If the people were like Freed or his cronies, I'd have no trouble... but killing innocent people just for fun would make my dad sad. I wasn't willing to go that far, sadly.
Gripping my chin, I crouched down.
"Alice. Can I make a contract with the Prime Minister?"
"You're not a Devil, master-sir."
...Ugh.
"Hey Makima, make a contract with me that lets me fight you without consequences."
She walked over to me, and looked down on me with an amused smile.
"Why would I do that, Masao-kun?"
Dammit, I should've never given these people my name.
My phone began to buzz and vibrate gratingly.
"Oh, that's your alarm, I believe, master-sir."
Alice had assured me that this world and my home were on different scales or something that produced a time dilation. We set the alarm to account for that dilation, and get me back home in time for bed... before anyone started getting worried, at least.
I frowned.
Had all that time really passed since I came here?
"I don't think we've been here that long."
"This is that-" Alice jumped, "-Time flies when you're having fun! That was it, yes it was!"
Sighing, I rose to my feet and waved everyone goodbye.
"I'll be back later I guess."
God, time limits were so annoying.
I stared at the unconscious Aki lying on the ground after my backhand and... gave him a good kick in the balls for the time wasted dodging him. He squealed, holding his marbles pitifully.
"You can take my number, Masao-kun."

Hope you enjoyed.
Her control worked btw. Just, he processes it differently so it kind of shot her in the foot.
