Hey everyone!! This is a Special Update! We're adding a playtest version of the first unlockable kit for our sweet orc, Kat! To access the new alternate kit, leave the tavern, but instead of pressing the "Start Run" button, instead, press the "WIP test" button. But first, some important clarifications:
The alt kit will be unlockable through a narrative arc involving an NPC named Ravenna. She hasn't been introduced yet, but her art exists in-game. When you select her kit, your in-combat portrait will change to hers. THIS WILL NOT BE THE CASE WHEN THE KIT IS ACTUALLY ADDED TO THE GAME! We were originally gonna add unlockable characters, but we've since changed to a different scheme. Characters will impart their techniques onto Kat, and she can equip them. The reason we switched away from unlockable characters is to avoid redundant and boring narrative events. For example, the first time Kat defeats the Drey Mare, there will be a unique dialogue event when she returns to the tavern. We'd have to do alternative versions of this same interaction for each unlockable character for the game to make sense. It would thin and flatten the story of the game, which we intend to be a more in-depth exploration of Kat.
Also, the kit is Super Untested! There's a lot going on here. All new combos and combo upgrade paths. Alternate starting deck and heat tolerance. New cards for the summoning tome. There's a total of 4 new cards, each of which is specific to this kit. There's a new mechanic which allows the player to transform a creature into an "Ichor Drone." It's a lot of new stuff! And it's definitely going to need a lot of tuning.
