Hey everyone! I think I'm making pretty decent progress in substance painter, just wanted to show you guys some of what I've been working on for Jane's new outfits.
As I mentioned a while ago, a patron asked for me to do a yoga shorts variant of my usual leggings, I posted an early preview of those when I'd just started making the diffuse, but I've since started from scratch in substance painter, and it's coming along nicely. The top still needs work, and I think I'll make a skimpier variant too.
(Apologies if the images are a bit low quality, I'm still away from home and working on my laptop, so I'm not able to get screenshots in the usual higher resolution.)
Working in substance painter is also letting me paint details in some of the harder to reach spots. While I had tried before, these places were where I often have to place UV seams, and they are subsequently rather distorted in the UV maps. This made them near impossible to get right when I was working solely in 2D.
I've also started working on a pair of jeans for her, whilst I enjoy making the particularly lewd/skimpy outfits (and don't worry, I'll continue to do so), I've seen lots of screenshots of people using my mods with a preference for the more casual clothing choices, and thought I would try giving something like that a go.
I'm trying hard to improve at copying ZZZ's art style, a combination of subtle 3D shading with more solid 2D effects. I feel like this is important to make the outfits look and feel like they're a part of the game, and not stick out as mods.
On that note, I'm not 100% sure about the noise generator I'm using to try and give some texture to the jeans, does anyone have any opinions on if it looks better with or without it?
For comparison:
I'll admit the difference isn't even that much, but when you spend this long staring at them, you tend to overthink things😅
That's all for now :)
