Cross your fingers!
As of two days ago, my channel re-brand was completed and I resubmitted for monetization on Youtube. Here's some FAQs about it that you might want to know:
How confident are you that you'll get it back? Well... as confident as I could be, I guess. The atmosphere of Youtube has changed so dramatically from where it was 10 years ago, and they didn't exactly give me a "guideline" to follow, so I had to do buckets of research and just hope and pray the advice I got from varying sources was right. I only kept 1/4 of the videos I had made on Magpiepony, the rest will eventually make it to "Magpie for Kids".
If you DO get it back, what does that mean for your channel and future? If I DO get it, then it's more of a positive than a negative for sure, but the fact that I'm down to 1/4 of my videos means I'll be at less than 1/4 of my revenue (because most of the "high earners" had to be deleted.) this means that I will have to still rely on Patreon to help offset that major loss, but I am HOPING I can add some more incentives, rewards, that kind of thing. I just need to get this final "yes" or "no" from Youtube first so I can plan accordingly.
If you DON'T get it back, what does that mean for your channel and future? Honestly... that's what I'm most afraid of. If I DON'T get it back, that means Lost won't get hers back either... and I have to accept the fact that at that point... Youtube has officially killed "Magpiepony" the channel. I will still re-upload all my past videos on the kid channel, but honestly whatever new videos I make will have to be 100% fan funded, and once that runs out... I'll have to move on. This is the worst-case scenario and I really don't want to think about it until I HAVE to.
What are your plans for Lost's channel? Apparently the fight for her channel might be more difficult than I thought. Their stupid AI system has, in the past, not treated the channels demonetized simply for "being related to another demonetized channel" fairly. Like it can't understand the nuance of "Hey, Youtube, my channel was remonetized so you have no reason to keep TheLostNarrator demonetized." So I have to wait for my channel's fate, then contact a person, not a bot, THEN hope they'll get the right people to actually LOOK at her channel, provide all this stupid paperwork (like tax forms and shit) and THEN she could be re-instated. It's this whole thing... I'm not looking forward to it.
What's coming next? Well, that depends. It depends on my mental health, on the fate of my channel, on the time I have to spend on things, etc. I know that's a shitty answer, and I'm so sorry. What I WANT to work on is the next Ask Ponies. It'd be a wonderful "Hey, I'm back!" video. I WILL be making an update video as soon as I find out my "fate". I'm going to be looking into other avenues of revenue as well so that the burden of income isn't fully on Youtube content or fan generosity. I'm really trying hard to be fair, and positive.
Thank you so much for being patrons, you all mean the world to me. Regardless if I get re-monetized or not, your support will be the ONLY way I can keep going. Pretty soon I will be making polls, or askiing YOU all for input on what to work on next! (For example, my PATRONS get to choose the next guest for Ask Ponies. But I already promised this next episode would be a channel-chosen poll and I can't go back on my word) I have lots of ideas, so we will have to wait and see. Love you all! -Mag
