Good morning! It's time for updates!
So first off before anything, I want to thank everyone for being so kind last week. I had a crisis of confidence and I'm extremely lucky to have gotten so much validation and support from you guys. It really helped me feel better!
I had a much easier time working last week, and I'm sure it was in no small part thanks to you guys. I really appreciate it. Thanks for having my back.
Work went very smoothly, except for yesterday morning which was harrowing 😂
I tried to update my copy of photoshop, but when it completed it wouldn't open, stating that my operating system was too out of date to use with it any more. I knew this would happen eventually because I hate updating my OS, but it's gotta be done once the programs stop working.
So I started the update, which admittedly, was a huge leap because I left it so long [ Mac 13.5 to 26.5, that's not as many versions as it sounds but it's still a lot ] and I thought everything went fine [ 26.5 Tahoe made everything round and gel. It's 1999 again. I honestly like the new UI a lot LMAO ] but when I tried to wake my computer up in the morning it wouldn't wake up and I thought I fuckin bricked it.
Turns out it's a known bug with Tahoe, esp when updating from too many versions back. The way I was sweating, trying to wake it up and eventually giving up and restarting it, mannnn.
Once I had it up again I realized I had a firmware update for my display so I'm really hoping that fixed it. So far so good anyway, I've slept and woke the computer a few times since then with no issue 🍀 But I won't really be sure I fixed it for a couple weeks I think. It's unfortunately a random intermittent problem apparently so it's hard to tell when it's really fixed.
BUT ANYWAY, that is, as far as I know, behind me. The computer is working great, my brain is working great, Willow seems to be doing okay on her new prescription food, I am in control of my life.
Current sprite count for YKMET: Lawrence is now 423. I am now certain that it's gonna end up with a lot more images than Strade's game [ I think his ended up with around 500-550 ], because I still have SO much content left to cover. This is a loose approximation of how much of the script I've sprited:
I'm hoping I'll be able to reuse more in the future parts, but we'll see. One of the reasons the sprites have gotten out of control is because Lawrence moves around more [ different positions/distance from player ] and because the situations end up different enough that I keep needing new sprites. Strade kinda had a similar attitude most of the time and liked to crouch right next to the player so I was able to use less art in comparison.

For the Willow corner today, I want to celebrate a year of having her in my life. I adopted her last summer on June 12th. A friend recently sent me her old shelter photo- I was actually shocked at how different it was and how sad it made me. Thank god she's doing better now!
