Hey Patrons!
This update takes Shape2 Advanced another step forward.
Version 1.50 was the update where the plugin really became what I wanted it to be. Being able to turn the waveshaper off completely opened up a much more powerful way of working, and the expanded Envelope section made Shape2 Advanced far more flexible than before.
Now in v1.60, I have continued in that direction.
The first big change is the updated UI. Part of that comes from feedback from others, and part of it comes from me not being fully happy with the earlier look and layout. The plugin now feels more focused and easier to work with.
The second big change is a new control called Color.
You can use Color together with Compress Low, or instead of it, to increase the amount of bass. The difference is that Color also brings in some nice harmonics, which can be really useful when you want the low-end to feel bigger and richer, not just more controlled.
So while Compress Low is still great for shaping and controlling the bass, Color gives you another way of pushing the low-end, one that can add a bit more character and life at the same time.
Shape2 Advanced still does what it did before, and that is important. The waveshaper is still there and still sounds great when you want that kind of control. The envelope-based workflow is still there too. Nothing has been lost. But with the updated UI and the new Color control, the plugin feels more complete and more fun to use than before.
One workflow I still use a lot is dialing in very extreme settings and then blending them in with the Dry/Wet control. Instead of trying to make tiny adjustments directly, I often create something much more aggressive than I actually need, sometimes heavily compressed, heavily limited, or now also colored, and then blend in just a small amount. That can be enough to get exactly the bit of control or weight I was after.
At this point, Shape2 Advanced has become one of the best plugins I have made.
