SearchFX Update
Hey Patrons,
I genuinely think SearchFX is one of those scripts no Reaper user should be without. I use it constantly, and at this point it has become part of how I mix.
What’s new in this update:
Reaper shortcuts now work even when the script has focusYou can now keep SearchFX open and still use your normal shortcut commands in Reaper. The shortcuts get passed through to Reaper even when the script window is in focus, which makes SearchFX feel much more like an integrated part of Reaper instead of a separate floating tool.
This is the same shortcut-forwarding function I’ve added to some of my timer scripts and marker manager scripts, so if you’ve used those, you already know how useful it is.
Wet/dry bypass optionYou can now choose to use wet/dry instead of hard bypass. The reason for this is that it gives you a much smoother transition, with no clicks or abrupt jumps when bypassing plugins.
When this mode is enabled, SearchFX remembers the wet/dry position for each plugin. So when you bypass a plugin, it goes to 100% dry, and when you enable it again, it returns to the exact wet/dry setting it had before. That means it also works properly if you already use custom wet/dry values on different plugins.
What SearchFX actually does
The main idea is simple: open the script, and it will show you all plugins loaded in the current project, no matter where they are. Track FX, item FX, it all ends up in one list.
From there, you can type in the search field to filter the list. So if you type something like compressor, every plugin with compressor in its name will show up.
You can click on any plugin name in the list to open it directly, wherever it lives in the project. That makes it very easy to jump straight to the plugin you want to adjust without hunting through tracks and items.
If you hover the mouse over a plugin in the list, SearchFX also highlights the track or item where it lives. So even if you don’t open it, you can immediately see where in the project that plugin is being used.
On the right side of the script, you can bypass plugins individually, or delete them directly from the list. So if there’s something you don’t want anymore, you don’t have to go digging through the project to remove it.
You can also select multiple plugins with the checkboxes on the left and toggle bypass for all of them at once. That makes it very easy to compare different setups, for example if you want to hear what happens when several compressors, reverbs, or other plugins are turned on or off together.
Requirements & Installation
ReaImGui is required for SearchFX to work.The easiest way to install it is through ReaPack:
Open ReaPack in Reaper.
Search for ReaImGui.
Install it.
Restart Reaper if needed.
After that, install SearchFX like this:
Windows:The script is delivered as a setup file. Run the installer and it will place the script in your user Script Folder inside its own folder called Noisebud.
If you already had an earlier version of the script installed, the installer will simply replace it with the new one. You do not need to do anything else. Your existing key commands and setup will continue to work.
If this is your first time installing the script, you’ll need to add it to Reaper manually after running the installer:Actions > Show Action List > ReaScript > Load
Then select the script, add it, and assign your preferred shortcut.
Mac:On Mac, you’ll get an install script that copies the files to the corresponding location on your system.
Just like on Windows, if you already had an earlier version installed, you do not need to do anything else after running it. The old script is simply replaced by the new version, and your existing shortcuts will continue to work.
