Another small tweak before I start to work on version 2 of Peach. I added two bars that show you the width of the filter. This makes it easier to set the filter when there's no audio present.

Adapt changes what Peach listens to.
Instead of reacting to the incoming signal as-is, Peach now normalizes the sidechain signal over a short moving window. That means the highest peak at any given moment becomes the reference point.
In practice, this lets Peach react to relative peaks instead of absolute levels.
If you’re working with highly dynamic material like speech, live recordings, or anything uneven, you can now set a threshold once and still catch the important peaks consistently.
For example, you can de-ess a vocal or control harshness only when the signal is “loud for that moment”, not just loud in absolute terms.
Soft Clip Mode
Both clippers can now be switched from hard to soft.
This opens up a completely different way of using Peach.
Instead of reducing gain above the threshold, you can let the signal hit a soft clipper. That behaves more like a ratio-based compression curve, but with a different character. You’re shaping the top instead of pulling it down.
Some useful setups:
• Use soft clipping above threshold instead of gain reduction to get a warmer, more natural compression effect• Keep transients clean above threshold, and add soft clipping below for subtle saturation and density• Distort only the peaks by clipping above threshold while leaving the rest untouched• Use the output filter to clip only a specific frequency range, for example adding edge around 5 kHz when the kick hits while keeping the low end clean• Apply soft clipping only in the side channel to increase perceived width without affecting the center
Because everything in Peach can be targeted by level, spectrum, and stereo position, this becomes very flexible very quickly.
