Hey Patrons!I decided to set this free until I have the time for a better-looking beta or a version ready for release. Enjoy!_Purr-Static is a slow, transparent loudness rider. You set a LUFS target, and the plugin slowly rides the gain to adapt the signal toward that target over time—without sounding like compression or obvious processing.
Think of it as something that rides the volume for you, but in a way that stays out of the way.
You can use it to even out dialogue in a podcast by lifting softer voices and nudging louder ones down, smoothly and without artifacts.
Or, the way I use it:On dynamic music where the intro might sit around -18 LUFS and the crescendo hits -4 LUFS. I can set Purr-Static to leave everything under -6 LUFS untouched, but once it goes above that, it pulls down the signal by 1–2 dB.
Simple, controlled, and very clean.
What’s new in Alpha 004?
LUFS Target Mode (experimental)Choose between Momentary, Short-term, or Integrated LUFS. Not sure how useful this actually is yet, but it’s there to experiment with.
Invert Mode ("INV") – experimentalIf the plugin wants to boost the signal, INV will instead attenuate it. The idea is to increase dynamics while still aiming at the same target. Might be useful. Might not. Try it.
Silence HandlingWhen silence is detected, the plugin feeds the loudness algorithm with low-level noise around the target. This prevents big jumps when going from silence to loud sections.
How this thing started...
This started from a conversation with Robert, one of my Patrons. He wanted a plugin that could automatically gain-stage material to a target level.
The problem is obvious:You don’t want a quiet intro made of noise or ambience to suddenly hit -18 LUFS.
That’s where most tools fall apart.
With the improved silence handling in Alpha 004, Purr-Static behaves much more predictably in those situations. It doesn’t overreact to quiet sections anymore, which makes it a lot more usable for the kind of workflow Robert was after.
Free during alpha
Purr-Static is now free while it’s in alpha.
No tiers, no unlocks. Just download it and use it.
I don’t know if or when it will leave alpha—so for now, it’s open.
