Thank you for all the great comments about Solid. I knew I had a lot of professional mastering engineers as Patrons, but I didn't realize that you were that many. v1.10 of Solid is all about giving you a better starting point to easier dial in a natural-sounding low-end. There's a tutorial on how to get results quickly here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/152304317_Some mixes feel right in every way, except for one thing.
They’re missing that last bit of depth in the low end.
Not more bass in the traditional sense. Just a little more foundation.
That’s what SOLID is for.
Solid was originally meant to be a band below the fundamental in Hmmm. But it quickly became clear that it needed too many controls to live there comfortably. So I turned it into its own plugin instead, and I definitely don’t regret that decision.
What SOLID Does
SOLID generates a new fundamental one octave below the existing bass in your audio.
With the right settings, it can create a new low-end foundation that simply feels like it was always part of the mix. The goal is not to sound processed, but to add weight in a way that feels completely natural.
Often you can’t tell that anything was added. The mix just feels deeper, warmer and more grounded.
Even when those frequencies are barely audible, they can change the perception of the entire mix:
• More depth• A stronger 3D sense of space• A subtle feeling of warmth and size
And because the generated sub follows the existing material, you usually keep the original punch, attack and clarity intact.
While SOLID works well on individual instruments too, the main idea is simple:
When a finished mix needs a stronger foundation.
