Hi guys, how you've been. I hope you all had an amazing week so far.
Before I jump into the technical stuff (which I know not everyone cares about), here’s a quick summary of the progress so far:
We’re pushing hard on this episode. I managed to get around 200 renders done this week, on top of what I already sent to our new artist. I haven’t added his work to the progress bar yet since I want to wait until he finishes the whole event, but things are looking very promising on his end.On the animation side, we’re also moving forward steadily. Similar to the static renders, the animator delivers one event at a time, so progress tends to jump in chunks rather than day by day, but it looks good on that end as well.
Now for the not so great news: after almost five years of rendering thousands of scenes, one of my machines finally gave up. The GPUs hit their limit, and now I can barely render 10 scenes before the system goes into thermal throttling. I’ve cleaned it, replaced the paste, swapped the thermal pads, but nothing worked. So I had to order a new GPU.Since the software still has issues with the 50xx series, I had to buy a 4090 card and the only new one I found was in China, so it might take a while to arrive. In the meantime, I can still pose scenes on the machine with 2×5090s, but I can’t use it for batch rendering, which means I’m keeping that one busy with rendering animations instead.
