Hey everyone! Let me present to you MacFairling's Farm, the first map for the Farms & Farmsteads theme.
MacFairling’s Farm is a cozy homestead about 5 miles from the nearest village. It is the home of the MacFairling family, a friendly bunch. Jon and Mary are a couple of retired adventurers who have settled in this peaceful place. Together with their children and Uncle Ardwick, they live a quiet, comfortable life, far from the dangers of their past. They’ve spent years tending to the land, living off the crops they grow, the animals they raise, and the simple pleasures that come with a life of hard work. But an adventurer is never truly retired.
Recently, Martyn “Bloodthirst” Greataxe has come to avenge his father, a powerful crime lord who had a long history of violence and control over the criminal underworld. It started with a small group that broke into their home at night. Jon and Mary, despite their age, fought fiercely and managed to drive them off, but the message was clear: they were being targeted. A few days later, a second wave of attackers arrived, this time more numerous, and they threatened their children. Uncle Ardwick, always the tactician, was able to sneak up on the men from behind, and together, they fought them off once again. But the attack left its mark—Uncle Ardwick was wounded in the fight and is still recovering, unable to offer the same protection he once did.
Jon and Mary are growing increasingly concerned. Their fighting days are behind them, and they know that their simple farm life can no longer protect them from the shadows of their past. Fearing for the safety of their family, they have requested the help of young adventurers, offering gold in return for their assistance. The MacFairlings’ adventuring days may be over, but they were once successful adventurers, so money is not an issue. They offer a generous reward, but they also know that taking on a crime lord is no easy task. It is a sure way to make powerful enemies for life.
The criminals in these lands are no strangers to violence, and Martyn Greataxe is a name spoken in fear across the region. With the backing of his father's criminal empire, he is not just a simple rogue. He commands a vast network of bandits and mercenaries. The farmstead, once isolated, has now become a target in a much larger game. The MacFairlings are no longer just dealing with outlaws or petty thieves. They have found themselves caught up in a war of vengeance.
