We continue to work on the biggest and most difficult update for Nine Lives of Yoki v.0.8.7, where we are improving the behavior of all mobs and the combat system!
Today we'll talk about the cold inhabitants of Tail Valley, namely the snowblue and the blue slime. Their scripts have been completely rewritten! We didn't just add new features — we took the old mechanics apart and rebuilt them from scratch, making them much more accurate and lively!
Now, when the blue slime jumps on a snowman and completes its transformation, snow flies off in a small radius around the snowman, freezing the Yokis. This freeze debuff completely immobilizes the Yokis until a certain amount of time has passed or until they take damage. With a small chance, the snowblue may throw a snowball made of ice instead of snow at Yoki. Such a snowball applies the same freeze debuff.
The snowblue is fragile, so it avoids close combat. When Yoki gets close to it, it starts to back away.
The H-scene with the snowblue has also been improved. Since the snowblue is limited in its movements and cannot climb onto or descend from blocks, it can now grab Yoki from a distance if its tentacles can reach Yoki through the ground. A special algorithm will check whether the tentacles can actually reach Yoki in a given situation.
We want the exploration of the islands of Tail Valley and its inhabitants throughout the game to be both relaxing and exciting, where the world is not a set of code, but something alive! That's why, step by step, with each update, we try to carefully work out every aspect of the game!
