DESCRIPTION

The air turned bone-chillingly cold.

The massive cruise ship finally broke through the glaciers, dropping anchor at the icy docks of the Land of Snow.

Team 7 disembarked, stepping off the gangway into the freezing wind.

Yukie Fujikaze was wrapped tightly in a thick, fur-lined winter coat. She kept her head down, pointedly avoiding Kenji’s gaze. But every time he walked past her, her breath hitched, and she subconsciously pulled her coat tighter.

The ice was definitely cracking.

"Alright! This is perfect!" Director Sandayu yelled, clapping his thick gloves together. "Set up the cameras! We shoot the arrival scene right here!"

He didn't get the chance.

WHOOSH!

A volley of sharp ice spikes shot out from the snowy cliffs above, raining down on the docks like artillery.

"Get down!" Kakashi roared.

Explosions rocked the ice. The film crew screamed, scrambling for cover behind the heavy wooden crates.

Three figures dropped from the cliffs, gliding smoothly over the snow using mechanical snowboard devices attached to their boots. They wore thick white armor with glowing chakra cores in the center.

The Snow Ninja. Nadare Rouga, Mizore Fuyukuma, and Fubuki Kakuyoku.

"Well, well," Nadare sneered, stepping off his board. "Princess Yukie actually came back. Hand her over, Konoha trash."

Kakashi pulled up his headband, his Sharingan glaring at the leader. "Protect the client. Don't engage blindly. Their armor absorbs Ninjutsu."

"Absorbs Ninjutsu?" Naruto cracked his knuckles, stepping right to the front.

The hesitant, goofy kid from Konoha was completely gone. After his 'education' in the washroom, Naruto carried himself with a new, cocky swagger. He didn't look back at Sakura for validation. He just stared dead ahead at the enemy, his blue eyes sharp.

"Let's test that theory," Naruto grinned. He crossed his fingers. "Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

POOF!

Fifty Naruto clones exploded across the snowy dock. They didn't yell or waste time posturing. They surged forward like an orange tidal wave, charging straight at Fubuki.

"Annoying pests," Fubuki scoffed. She launched a barrage of ice swallows from her mechanical wings.

The ice ripped through a dozen clones, but the real Naruto used the thick white smoke as cover. He launched himself off a clone's back, vaulting high into the air and dropping down right behind Fubuki with a kunai aimed squarely at her neck.

Fubuki spun, raising her armored arm.

Naruto’s kunai struck the armor. The glowing core hummed loudly, instantly draining the chakra from his strike. Fubuki capitalized on his surprise, kicking him hard in the chest and sending him skidding backward across the ice.

Naruto didn't stay down. He flipped backward, landing firmly on his feet, dragging his hand across the ice to arrest his momentum.

He spat in the snow, a fierce, feral grin spreading across his face. "Tough armor. I like a challenge."

Sasuke watched from the sidelines, his teeth grinding together. Naruto wasn't hesitating. Naruto wasn't scared.

I need to prove myself, Sasuke thought, his Sharingan spinning to life. I won't be outdone by that idiot. And I won't be looked down on by Kenji.

"Out of the way, loser," Sasuke muttered, dashing past Naruto.

He targeted the massive, bear-like ninja, Mizore.

Sasuke moved fast. He closed the gap in a blur, his hands weaving signs flawlessly. "Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"

A massive sphere of intense flame erupted from his mouth, washing entirely over Mizore's massive frame.

Sasuke smirked. A direct hit.

But as the flames cleared and the steam faded, Mizore stood there completely unharmed. The glowing core on his armor hummed brightly, having absorbed the chakra of the attack perfectly.

"Is that the famous Uchiha clan?" Mizore laughed, a deep, mocking sound. "Pathetic."

Sasuke’s eyes widened in shock. He drew a kunai and lunged for a desperate physical strike.

Mizore didn't even bother to dodge. He let the kunai spark harmlessly against his armor, then backhanded Sasuke with a massive, mechanical gauntlet.

CRUNCH.

Sasuke took the heavy blow straight to the ribs. He flew backward like a broken doll, skipping across the hard ice before slamming violently into the side of a glacier.

"Sasuke-kun!" Sakura cried out, but the freezing wind and her own fear kept her feet glued to the ground.

Sasuke groaned, spitting a mouthful of warm blood onto the white snow. His vision blurred. His chest was on fire.

Weak, a dark voice whispered in his mind. I'm too weak. I can't even beat a random grunt. How am I supposed to kill Itachi?

His hand instinctively reached up, clutching the side of his neck where Orochimaru had placed the Curse Mark. The dark seal pulsed hotly against his skin, feeding off his anger, his frustration, his sheer inadequacy.

Orochimaru... he promised me power. Maybe... maybe staying in Konoha is a mistake. I need to be a killer.

He prepared to let the dark, corrupted chakra consume him.

Heavy footsteps crunched on the snow.

Kenji walked past Kakashi. He walked past Naruto, who was wiping his chin. He walked past a trembling Sakura.

He didn't draw a weapon. He just walked straight toward Mizore, his face a mask of absolute, chilling boredom.

"Another brat?" Mizore sneered, revving up his mechanical gauntlet with a loud whine. "I'll crush your skull!"

Mizore charged like a tank, swinging a massive, chakra-powered punch aimed right at Kenji's face.

Kenji didn't weave signs. He didn't use a flashy jutsu.

He just raised his right fist.

He coated his knuckles in invisible, concentrated Haki, merging the sheer willpower with his monstrous physical strength.

He threw a straight punch.

Fist met mechanical gauntlet.

There was no contest. The sheer kinetic force of Kenji's punch shattered the sound barrier.

BOOM!

Mizore's gauntlet exploded into shrapnel. The shockwave traveled straight up the Snow Ninja's arm, completely shattering his 'invincible' Chakra Armor into a thousand useless pieces of scrap metal.

Mizore didn't even have time to scream. He was launched backward through the air, skipping across the freezing ocean water like a skipped stone before sinking beneath the dark waves.

Dead. In one hit.

Nadare and Fubuki froze, staring in absolute terror at the empty space where their heavy-hitter had just been.

Naruto let out a low whistle, grinning wildly at the display of power.

Sakura gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. She looked at Kenji’s broad back, a strange, confusing heat pooling in her stomach despite the freezing temperature. He was so... dominant. It was terrifying and intoxicating all at once.

Kenji didn't bother looking at the remaining enemies. He walked over to the glacier and looked down at Sasuke.

Sasuke glared up at him, still clutching his neck, his Sharingan spinning with a volatile mix of hatred and humiliation.

"Look at you," Kenji said, his voice cold and cutting. "Lying in the dirt. Thinking about running away."

Sasuke flinched. How does he know?!

"You think running away to the snake will make you strong, Uchiha?" Kenji sneered, crouching down so only Sasuke could hear him over the wind. "Orochimaru doesn't want to train you. He wants your body as a pet. A meat suit. You defect, and you're just trading one leash for another."

Kenji grabbed Sasuke roughly by the collar of his jacket and hauled him to his feet.

"Stay in Konoha," Kenji ordered, his dark eyes boring directly into Sasuke's soul, completely overwhelming the Curse Mark's influence. "Beat me. That's the only real way you prove your clan isn't a joke. Run away, and I'll personally hunt you down and bury you."

He shoved Sasuke backward against the ice.

Sasuke breathed heavily. The pulsing pain in his neck slowly faded, retreating back into the seal. The seductive lure of Orochimaru's power was completely eclipsed by the massive, towering wall of Kenji Sato standing right in front of him.

Defecting to the Sound Village meant admitting Kenji was better than him. It meant running from the real challenge.

Sasuke’s fists clenched. His jaw set. The desire to leave Konoha died right there in the snow.

"I'm going to kill you, Kenji," Sasuke hissed, wiping the blood from his chin. "I swear it."

"Good," Kenji smirked, turning his back on the Uchiha. "Keep that energy."

[System Notification: Major Arc Alteration - The Uchiha's Leash]

[Objective: Sever the Snake's influence and prevent Sasuke Uchiha from defecting to the Sound Village.]

[Current Progress: Sasuke's determination to defect has wavered. A new rivalry anchors him to Konoha.]

[Potential Reward: Pure Uchiha Bloodline Limit.]

Kenji looked up at the cliff where Nadare and Fubuki were already retreating, completely terrified by the raw display of power.

"Let's get moving," Kenji called out to the crew, his voice carrying easily over the freezing wind. "The princess needs to film her movie, and it's freezing out here."
