DESCRIPTION

Hello, everyone!

If you're not aware, a few days ago YouTube removed my 2008 video Ferrets for, "minimizing a well-documented, major violent event." I suspect this was done by YouTube's AI moderation bot, which is famously bad at understanding context. This suspicion was all but confirmed when I appealed the decision and had my appeal denied faster than a human moderator could have watched the video.

I'm currently working with my MCN, Frederator, to try and get the appeal seen by an actual human, but whether or not Ferrets is allowed back this whole event has brought into focus how poor of a platform YouTube has become for the long-term distribution of artistic works.

While thinking about long-term distribution, I watched the version of Ferrets I had originally uploaded to the FilmCow High Quality Downloads folder, and thought there were a number of improvements that could be made. So, I grabbed the original lossless video export from 2008 and did a more modern, higher resolution, higher bitrate conversion to add to the folder. I then did the same thing for just about every other older FilmCow release.

In addition to that, I uploaded a number of FilmCow Extra videos, and also added a couple of very old projects to the "Archive" folder. All of this has brought the total number of FilmCow videos available for download to 286. (To access the downloads, see the pinned comment!)

Thank you so much for your continued support, and I hope you enjoy the higher quality downloads. It's comforting to know that even if the world's largest video platform removes a video from distribution there will still be good copies of it floating around out there.
