Dylan could barely catch his breath. Tears in his eyes as he tried to stifle his laugh in this quiet bar. “Wait, wait, wait… how many times?!”
Aurora’s cheeks were bright red and she was having trouble suppressing her own laughter. “I think…3 times?”
“3 times?!” The heads of other bar patrons turned and glared at the couple, and Dylan mouthed his apologies while Aurora laughed into her jacket. “You’re shitting me,” he whispered to her, trying to catch his breath.
“There’s a reason I was taking a ride share tonight! I can’t be trusted at a gas station,” Aurora was so embarrassed, but also endeared.
“I mean, you at least didn’t hurt anyone, right?”
“Of course not. I only drove off with the gas pump still attached. I’m still paying off those bills,” Aurora drank her drink in shame.
“You only drove off with three gas pumps? You should put that on your resume. Honestly, I don’t think I have anything as impressive or embarrassing to share.”
Aurora gave him a playful punch. “Easy there, sir. You know I can protect myself.” Dylan thought back to her slamming him into the car (accidentally) with her impressive chest. She still doesn’t want to talk about her condition, but she has left her coat open, so she at least feels comfortable enough for Dylan to glance every once in a while.
“I’ll just brace myself moving forward whenever we’re walking together. Possibly on our second date,” Dylan smiled as he drank his second cocktail.
“Second? So we’re saying this is our first official date?” Aurora smirked.
“I mean, we can have a more formal date, of course. But if anyone asks, I may fib and say I went on a fantastic date with an amazing woman.”
“Oh, really? I guess, if these friends of yours were to ask, I’d have to confirm that this is, in fact, a fantastic date,” Aurora’s red cheeks returned.
“So, Ms. Aurora - what brought you to the speed dating event this evening? Were you looking for free drinks from a handsome fellow like me? Or were you looking for something more serious?”
“Por qué no los dos?” Aurora said with very clunky pronunciation.
“Ah, another hidden talent. She knows enough Spanish to quote old commercials,” Dylan cheered her glass in her hand.
“Thank you, thank you,” she bowed her head proudly. “To be honest, my friend from work, Debbie, recommended it. Well, she really forced me to go.”
“Why do you say ‘forced’?” Dylan leaned forward.
Auroa sighed, “I wouldn’t say I’m the most social woman. I really don’t think I can remember the last real date I had, and the last relationship I had was in college, so… about 10 years ago?”
“Oh wow,” Dylan tried to subdue his reaction, embarrassed.
“Wow, indeed. I just… have my hangups,” Aurora trailed off, but it was clear what she was referring to. Her chest.
“I see…” Dylan wanted to be careful with how he moved forward with this conversation. “So I’m guessing… guys and gals being a bit too into your figure?”
“Yes! Maybe I was naive, but I thought dating women would be a bit better, but nope.” The walls were falling a bit. She was opening up. “I didn’t ask for these, ya know? I’m just ‘blessed’,” she rolled her eyes and stretched out the word blessed.
“Well, I’d like to apologize again for asking about … them earlier.”
Aurora waved him off, “Don’t even trip, Dylan.” The liquor was loosening her up even more. “I damn near crushed you with them,” she laughed.
“Alright, so she can joke about them,” Dylan thought. He continued, “So, Debbie dared you to date again, but what are you looking for?”
“Very direct, Dylan,” Aurora said as she sipped her drink a bit more confidently.
“I think, at elder Millennial age, we have to be direct,” Dylan answered.
“Yes, it is true. We’re quite old and decrepit,” she joked.
“I should be put into a museum, to tell you the truth,” he laughed.
“Thank goodness I’m a fan of fossils.” Aurora’s cheesy smile made it clear how proud she was of her joke.
“Well played, ma’am.”
“It’s my craft,” Aurora finished her drink. “Another round?”
“I could go for one more,” as Dylan started to stand, Aurora was already up. A bit woozy and off balance, but she was able to catch herself.
“Sir, you’ve been too kind. I’m allowed to buy you one drink. It is the 20th century, after all.”
“21st, ma’am. I’ll go for one more drink, but then we need to get you some water. You’re starting to time-travel.”
“Two waters and two Old Fashions, coming up.” Aurora could feel Dyaln as he watched her make her way to the bar. She confidently rested a bit of her bust on the bar and waved down the bartender. After a few minutes, she returned with the four drinks. “I may have spilled a little water on my top.”
“Ma’am, this is no time for a wet t-shirt contest,” Dylan’s eyes flicked down to her gigantic curves.
“Saw that!” She pointed at him. “Perv!”
“Hey! You assaulted me with them!”
“Pssh, barely,” she teased. “We can call it even.”
“Hmmm… fair enough.” Dylan raised his glass. “To Debbie - for forcing her friends to be an extrovert.”
“I’ll have to thank her,” Auror clinked her glass and took a sip. “To answer your question - I just want…” she paused. The alcohol and vulnerability of the evening made her pause. “I think I’ve found comfort in being alone. I like going to movies alone, eating alone, traveling alone - but I do have this pit inside my heart. It sounds dramatic, but… I can feel real pain when I see couples who really love each other,” Aurora teared up a bit. “I don’t need a fairytale ending, but I would like to experience that kind of support. Ya know?” She sniffled, wiping her tears on her sleeve.
Dylan handed over his cloth napkin. Aurora waved it away, “I’m ok, really.”
“Oh, no, this wasn’t for the water works. I was just worried you’d catch a cold with your soaking wet blouse.” Dylan smiled, hoping it would make her chuckle.
It did. “You’re my hero,” Aurora took the napkin and wiping her tears. “Sorry for that, I guess I’m more drunk than I expected.”
“Hey, no need to apologize. I… I know what you mean,” Dylan’s hand crossed the table and rested on hers.
“Yeah?”
“I just got out of an 8 year relationship. I thought I had my life planned out, with my person. The woman I thought wanted me too. That was the case, anyway, until I caught her with my brother.”
“Oh my god,” Aurora gasped.
“Yes, I know. It sounds like the start of a cheesy romance novel. It stings even more when I had to sell the engagement ring I had been hiding. I was going to ask her on our anniversary on a rooftop downtown.”
“Oh, Dylan,” Aurora squeezed his hand. “Did you… at least get a little money back?”
Dylan smiled, “Yes, thankfully. However, I did have to use all that money to pay off the staff at the other bar for whatever happened to that table.”
“What?” Aurora was shocked and embarrassed.
“Kidding! Kidding! Sorry, bad joke.” Aurora swatted Dylan in the chest a few times.
“Not. Funny. Sir!” She pulled her hand away from his and finished her cocktail in one sip. “You’re going to have to make that up to me.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes. You’ve insulted my honor. I will only accept restitution in the form of another date on your dime,” Aurora played up a smug and arrogant demeanor.
“Only seems fair. What are you doing tomorrow at noon?”
“A lunch date? You want to see this ghastly visage in the daylight?” Aurora framed her face with her hands.
“It would be my honor,” Dylan finished his cocktail and slammed it down. They each worked on their waters.
“Well, I think I can make that work,” Aurora’s blush was back.
“What’s your number?” Dylan asked, and Aurora shared. “Perfect. I’ll text you the location tomorrow morning. Be sure to wear something comfy. It’ll be a hot one.”
“I can do that,” Aurora said with a yawn. “Oh no, I’m about to turn into a pumpkin. I’m going to call a ride, wanna split it?”
“I’d be happy to. Let me go close out.” Dylan went to the bar while Aurora looked at her phone. She could see her smiling reflection in the black mirror. She called a driver and had Dylan punch his address in.
He was dropped off first. As he got out of the car, he turned and smiled at his date. “Thanks for taking a chance on me, Aurora.”
Her heart melted. “Thank you, Dylan. And also thank you for not suing me for the body slam.”
“Don’t mention it,” he winked. “I’ll text you so you have my number. Can you text me when you get home so I know you’re safe?
Aurora rolled her eyes in an exaggerated manner. “Yes, Mom.”
“Thank youuuu,” he shut the door and waved the car off. As Aurora’s massive breasts jiggled with each bump and turn, she felt her phone vibrate.
D: Were you kidnapped by the driver?
A: Yes, but the driver is very nice.
D: Now that’s great service.
A: Lol
Aurora giggled to herself. In a moment of bravery, and possibly drunkenness, she snapped a photo to send to Dylan. It was from her lap, looking up at her face. She had squished her face down to give herself a triple chin, and the bottom of the frame was occupied by her massive tits. Without thinking a moment longer, she hit send.
A: Something to help you remember me.
D: I think the bruise on my chest from the impact is enough of a memory 😆
A: HUSH NOW!
D: I kid, I kid. Picture attached
Aurora opened the photo. Dylan was lying on his bed with his glasses pushed down to the bottom of his nose. His eyes were crossed, and he was smiling with his gums exposed. Aurora loved it.
A: I can’t believe I said yes to another date…
D: Can’t back out now! See you tomorrow!
What’s in store for tomorrow’s date? Find out next time!
