As mentioned at times, S&M contains a number of choices.
These impact the general trajectory of the narrative, though others are more influential than others. Some of the most influential are those associated with the branches that are accessible after Chapter 2. These branches enable you to explore Jensey's connections with people and the world more broadly through a number of lenses.
There are currently 6 branches in development, each being self-contained routes that provide unique glimpses into various parts of the world. Some lean more heavily into ideology, whereas others focus more explicitly on who Jensey is as a person.
These six routes grant you (as the player) a degree of freedom in determining just where Jensey fits into the world at large. The routes additionally explore various themes, all of which contribute to any number of possible endings that you can reach by the final act of S&M.
There is no "canonical" route to follow. The golden route forever eludes you.
Each instead contains exclusive content that'll meaningfully contribute to the ultimate conclusion; though it should be noted that there are costs associated with your choices. While complicated, Jensey is still married during the events of S&M. It's up to you as the player to determine just what that means. How loyal are you to the idea of someone or something?
For the Vilĉjo route, this is front and center. Jensey must examine who he is, and what his connection to his husband is. Was it merely a utilitarian agreement, or more?
As for the others, it is entirely up to you to determine your place in the world, even if it means sacrificing parts of your former life.
Who are you, and what is it that you seek to change about the world?
Are you an agent of change? Complicity? Opposition? Or do you merely want to return to a past that never really existed to begin with? It's hard to say; after all, anemoia is a hell of a drug.
Should you wish, these routes can also be entirely disregarded. The internal conflict of Jensey may instead remain an elusive presence in the narrative, stashed away until a far-off future that may never come to pass.
Regardless, these are unsettled times. It's up to you to make something of them, for better or for worse.
