I was really excited to get another story centered entirely around Logan. Along this X-Men journey I've been on, Wolverine has definitely become one of my favorite characters. Especially after X-Men Origins: Wolverine. There's just something about him that keeps pulling me in.
And yeah.. The Wolverine was everything I thought it would be and more. After the chaos and scale of some of the earlier X-Men movies, this one definitely felt more personal and grounded. Logan always carries so much pain with him, but this movie really let us sit in just how much. The loneliness, the survivor's guilt, and the exhaustion of living for so long. You could feel all of that so much more deeply in this movie.I also loved the setting in Japan. The atmosphere, the visuals, the music and the culture. It was all woven into this story so well. It gave the movie a really distinct identity compared to the other X-Men films. And the action sequences? AMAZING. The bullet train scene was insane 🤯I think what hit me the most tho was seeing Logan stripped down emotionally AND physically. We're used to seeing him run at bullets and instantly heal from anything thrown his way. But watching him be so vulnerable and mortal. It was STRESSFUL lol. It showed that quiet sadness behind the claws so much more deeply. It's what makes Logan endlessly compelling to watch and they executed it so perfectly here. The themes of honor, grief, and what it means to keep living after trauma were beautifully told. Logan constantly acts tough, but he genuinely believes he brings destruction wherever he goes because of what he has been through. So seeing him slowly open back up again. Love again. Go from caveman to finding his purpose again. It was surprisingly emotional. And that ending/post-credit scene!?
